I've been pulled before, thinking to myself what could i have possibly done wrong?
When i spoke to the nice policeman he informed me that i had done nothing wrong and that he was bored and wanted a closer look at the car.Tax payers money well spent don't you think????

I was stopped on entering the UK in my wagon by 2 middle aged Customs men who seemed very interested in it. Spent about 1 minute looking for stuff then proceeded to hold me up for the next 20 asking me questions about the car, how fast it was, whether it was an import, would I recommend Impreza's as an ownership prospect(answer no, I didn't think they deserved to own one). I'm always getting stopped by gendarmes over here who then usually look under the bonnet, ask questions and let me go. Never happens in any of our other cars.
The car seems to drag officials to it quicker than a turd drawing flies on a sunny day.
Those guys sound like tossers to me for giving you the fine.

Damn it would have to be very foggy to drive around with fogs on (none of this mist lark).
3.5 years of scoob ownership and i think i used the fogs twice (and that was covering 36k miles!)

If they had just given him the fine then OK, but having to listen to their bullsh1t as well? Should have let him off with a warning.

Paraphrasing:
"I broke the law, I did something that people on Scoobynet continually moan about when done by a BMW driver etc, and I want a rant as I've been fined for it. It shouldn't happen to me, it should only happen to others. The police must be jealous."

Good its a pity they dont stop more people with their fog lights on. people who drive with their fog lights on in normal conditions get on my ****, their as bad as those ****** that drive the other way on motorway's and dual carriageways with full beam on and seem to think that it wont dazzle the drivers coming the other way cause there's a crash barrier between them. Do you not have lights on your dashboard or fog light switch to tell you there on?

Not that I've ever used my fog lights (<100m visibility isn't it?) but the light on the button is hard to see on my car as it's obscured by the steering wheel and there's no indicator on the instrument panel..

I have to agree with Jocky, it is difficult to see the fog light indicator. There seems to have been a move over recent years to move away from having a glaring light on in the dashboard to having a discrete light on somewhere else. A cynical person might think that this is pandering to the desires of the people who put their foglights on whatever the weather.
Front fog light drivers make me mad. TURN THEM OFF.
Rant over

Buy an STi8, they don't come with any front ones - problem solved.
Or do what most other people do - a quick check of the instrument panel before commencing your journey!

Cue a 4 pager....
Personaly i think they were right to fine you for your fogs, it should happen to more people and more often IMHO.
I think ive had my fogs on about 4 times in 3 years of scoob ownership and if i was caught with em on in no fog i would take it on the chin. I'd be a hyprocrit if i didnt.

Sorry carterjohn, I know what its like working shifts, and shouldn't take the pish out of you.
I know what you mean about the positioning the front fog switch, and that the only indication is the little light on the switch itself. I've owned several classic and new age imprezas, now on the STi8.
I always used to check the fogs weren't on when I started the previous cars, as I have accidently switched them on when getting into the car (god knows how) before.
Bad luck mate

Carterjohn, I think a warning would have been sufficient, were they front or rears, we all make mistakes and the fog lamp switches are very poorly located.
Unlucky mate.
