Can you extend Subaru New Car Extended Warranty past 5 years???

Have 5 months left on mine and the intermittent whine on 5th gear (2000-2500rpm) hasnt got any worse yet - Garage recognises the problem but say if they strip it down and dont find anything they will charge me for it. Might argue this tho as they can hear it when they drive it so surely there MUST be something wrong. Also have a noise/vibration like VERY load tyre noise after reasonably prolonged hard driving - havent a clue what that is...and second gear is quite difficult to engage sometimes and whines like crazy as you let the clutch out at about 4000rpm slowing into a corner.

40k standard MY99 which isnt driven hard (70 mile traffic laden commute to work / below 2500rpm for first 10mins/last 2mins) I wouldnt expect all these noises...Everything else about the car is immaculate.

Cheers, Dont worry about mailing me, I'll go to the dealer at some point and see whether the current issues with the car would be covered under the 'extended' extended warranty...If so, I'll take it out. Thanks for the advice

Any of the symptoms sound familiar to anyone?

How do I stand with fixing things under warranty? Is them recognising a fault not enough?
