Hi there,

Bought my STi7 in January 2003 (March 02 model), PPP'd it in April 2003.

Just toying with the idea of changing up to an STi8 PPP.

Emailed my dealer and they have 2 black ones available.

Black STI8 PPP Sept 03/53 reg 4,000 miles £24,995
&
Black STI8 PPP 18" B/Flitter Alloys gauge pack, May 03/03 reg 15,000 miles £24,995

Not sure what trade up deal they are going to offer. Mine has done 29000 miles and due for its 30k service end of next week. So if I was to do a deal I'd do it before the imminent service.

So, I am not unhappy with my STi7 (more power would be nice), but if the price was good enough should I move up to the 8, or in you opinion do you think its not worth (ie, not enough of a change of car).

To be quite honest I wouldn't want to part with any more than about 4k to change.

Should I wait until the WR1 is available and see how this affects prices (obviously mine woud drop in price too) ?

On the other hand, long term I'd like to have more power than the PPP, so should I stick with my 7, wait for the warranty to run out, then get it Ecutek'd properly, maybe a FMIC, get some nice wheels (I have the standard 17's) ?

Part of me still can't get over the size of the bonnet scoop on the 8 compared to the 7.

Thanks,

Mark.

No point if you ask me, as they aren't much different.

You will have already taken a big hit on your car.

If I were you, I would be waiting for the twin scroll model to be released, assuming you don't want to go the import route.

However, it would be interesting to see what you were offered.

Just a guess but It will be nearer £8k than £4k to change, going by what dealers offered for my 7 last year.

Leave it until the 03/04 model, call it STi 9, is available then you will get a technical improvement as well. Either that or go to an independant importer and get it now. Next time I change I will go this route

Or you could sell yours and buy a seriously modified STi 8(mine) for not a lot more money.

Exclamation

I'd agree with all the above, not enough differences to warrant changing IMHO wait for the MY04Sti, WR1 or V-limited

The MY03STiUK is not based on a STi8JDM but the MY04STiUk is IIRC

The engine in the MY02STi7UK is very simular to the MY03STiUk, but there are some slight differences.

The engine in the MY04STiUK is nearly the same (Bar from mapping) to the STi8

IIRC but some Teckies here will put me right

I changed my standard "51" Sti7 in Sept - got 20k as px against new "53" 8 with ppp (27k), if you can do a deal at 4k i think you'll have done pretty well.
