Question

Hello people!

Can anyone describe to me the main difference between a Phase 1 car and a Phase 2?

I need to find some yellow side feed 440cc injectors and injector plugs off a phase 2 car, but if I ask at a scrappy most of the staff would probably just look confused and scratch their heads!

Cheers

Tim

Thumbs up

Phase 2 engines came out in the MY99 model cars (UK cars were MY99 onwards inc RB5/P1) JDM cars were the likes of the STi5 onwards MY99 WRX's.

then you are using the wrong scrappy. Every Subaru scappy I've used KNOWS alot about what bits are what....

Differences I can think of off the top of my head that are easy to spot are slanted/straight intercooler and position of coilpacks.

Could you reccomend a scrappy who might have some phase 2 injectors and plugs?

I take it by the bug-eye version they were up to Phase 3?

Cheers

Don't the new(er) models use top-feed injectors?

Erm, anyone who breaks Subarus on a reasonably regular basis. 440cc side feed injectors are standard on all MY99-MY00 turbocharged cars, whether European or Japanese market, so getting them shouldn't be an issue. Tried Grade A?

No, technically the engines used in the New Age car are still "Phase 2" (the WRX uses the EJ205 and the STi the EJ207 blocks, just like the MY99-00 cars). As you say, the fuel injectors are a different design, but in fact the entire inlet manifold on the New Age cars is different.
