What sort of scooby will I be able to get for up to £12,000?
Im thinking MY99/00 or a nice 99 STi. Am I into TypeR money?
Sound about right? Just trying to work out a budget

I got a very nice MY99 ten months ago for £9,000. Not low mileage, but perfect history. You should be able to get something outstanding in the classic line for that money, but I'd go standard tuning because ther're some crap, potentially expensive (i.e. likely to blow up) modified scoobs out there.

You should pick up a nice STi5 for that sort of money, and there have been a couple of STi5 Type R's and Type RA's that may be within your budget. Just depends how many creature comforts you want, and whether you want four doors or two.
Happy shopping

What sort of money do decent V5 STis (4 Doors) go for?
Id prefer an Import to a UK but would consider a good UK with Air Con.

Sorry Terminator, wasn't being ignorant, I'm just putting the feelers out.
It's looking increasingly like £10k will be my budget so I'll have to take that into account.
In addition, I don't want huge miles, certainly less than 50k as there's a good chance I'll be piling them on.
Might have to be dead boring and get something a bit cheaper for now.

Ninj.. As per my reply to Tainton just now I'm about to put my MY00 X plate Dark Blue Mica 4 door turbo up for £10,800 on Autotrader (I've got a big sensible diesel Merc on order for 1st March delivery!). I'm looking to get £10K for it really. It's done 40K, with full main dealer service history (never raced, always run on SUL/Optimax). It's an EU personal import but is totally standard UK spec, with Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser, aircon, quickshift gearbox, body coloured skirts, side-protection strips, Blaupunkt stereo / 10 disk changer. Taxed and MOT'd up to September. email me at greg.dickinson@lexisnexis.co.uk if you're interested.

You are joking [edit for my poor spelling]?!
The standard STi (original) is timed at 4.6s to 60mph (check out EVO mag nr 6) and high 11s or low 12s to 100mph. I don't think that a lard **** standard WRX could keep up with that?!
