I've seen that some of the well known fast fit centres are doing oil/filter changes for silly prices ie £14.99, stating in the smallprint 'special or synthetic oils are subject to extra charge'.
I was wondering if anyone has tried these for perhaps an interim oil change, maybe using their own oil. If so how did they do, and how much did you end up paying?

kev.

If the chain you are refering to is N******L then dont bother.

everytime i have gone to them with any of my cars, they always have an excuse not to do it

1) volvo, couldnt undo the sump plug, didnt want to take risk of damaging sump....

2) saab turbo... no filter in stock,,, special order?? and must have fully synthetic oil... wouldnt change unless i used fully synth....at cost

3) scoob again special filter to order???? i even offered to source the filter myself no joy,,, gave them the cross reference no. for an alternative filter even listed in there book!!!!!!
There answer ..........Jobsworth or what..... it says on the screen its a xx345 so we must use a xxx345.....

and they wonder why they dont do so well....

I use chessington tyres to do my changes.... the guy will spend up to 2 hrs on a change no probs will drain / refill check for leaks. advise of any probs... done the scoob twice the saab once and the wifes rover once...

cost £30-40 for the saab fully synth inc filter...
£23.50 for the scoob semi synth inc filter
£23.50 for the rover semi synth inc filter
