Definately type R lack of abs = more driver involvement .2 Door looks miles better than 4 but is less practical for those supermarket runs also you get DCCD on the type r which u dont on STi 4 door. You also get quick shift as standard which i dont think u get on standard sti's

tractor is correct. The STi typeR doesnt have ABS, the WRX (non STi) does, but it lacks lots of the toys the STi comes with, especially the DCCD, which is the best feature of the car IMHO.
I dont miss ABS (actaully, i hate ABS, its crap for performance driving), but then i am not you, no one can advise you on if you will be OK or not, if you think ABS matters to you, then go for a car with ABS.

I feel since owning the car that the brakes are quite progressive and controllable with a trained foot. had them uprated and this is a good option to get over the standard lack of brakes.
Mind if I take this debate into another direction??
I have a type R ver5 and really want to make more use of it. When, where, how, and under what conditions can this feature be used?? Have notched it up in the rain a little but can't really feel the benifit.
Any advice appriciated please...
