Question

I'm currently looking to buy a 1994 Japaneese spec scooby. The car is here in Germany but I will be moving to the US in a year. Does anyone know what I would have to get replaced to make it US spec?

It would be extremely difficult to get your car registered in the US as almost nothing would meet their DOT requirements, although there are some specialists who deal in low volume imports, but it won't be cheap, or quick.

I think it's generally a question of who you know, not what you know.

maybe a better idea would be to purchase lots of parts, sell the car and take the parts over to convert a 2.5RS?

Practically that's the only way to do it. You'll need an RS 'donor' vehicle though.

Thanks for the help guys. I test drove this car and fell in love with it. It's so rare to find a decent older model WRX in the US.
The owner said most likely the bumpers, windshield, and speedometer would need replaceing. Also side impact bars and a govoner would need to be added. Sounds like there is actually more than that.
