Question

Hello all this one is for the mechanical minded out there I recently noticed that when in 3rd gear if I lean on the gear **** slightly forwards or back I can feel vibration through the stick where as in all other gears there is no evidence of this.I have never really rested my hand on the stick whilst driving so it might have always been there. My car is a 99 with 95k motorway miles the car is mint with fssh, does this indicate gearbox wear? Also on Sat I was goaded into a head to head with a very loud rs turbo at the lights (sad I know couldnt resist sorry) the turbo kept on quite well really he was only 300yds behind after 1/2 mile but I pushed my precious a bit harder than normal and when I changed gear at 7thou there was a strange noise hard to describe it sounded like the rev limiter on a motorbike kicking in, bouncing off the throttle, it wasnt a loud noise but I knew it was telling me to lay of the throttle a bit, is this a rev limiter or is it the waste gate chattering .I know difficult to say without hearing it but would be glad of reasuring advice.Has driven fine since.
