Hi guys
Filled up my scooby with Shell Optimax today for first time, I feel the performance is slightly increasing (just feeling). Is that 98 RON or something? Is that really increase the performance of scooby? Is that necessarily to adjust the programme of ECU? And I heard about someone add some booster to the fuel tank mixed with Optimax to increase the performance, is that true? If yes, what kind of booster they choose and how is mixing percentage of them (booster and fuel)?
Newbie question

The ecu will gradually adjust to the higher octane fuel or you could manually reset the ecu. There is a difference using higher octane fuel but not enormous, much better for the engine though.

Depends on year of Scooby too, older models benefit from a ECU reset, but 2000 models onwards have a faster learning ECU and do not need a reset with new fuel!
Optimax is supposed to be 98.7 RON and so as a higher octane rating can allow beter ignition advance, more boost etc. and for jap imports is a necessity .
Imports also could / should use octane booster, as the jap fuel is 100 octane, and many imports have melted pistons etc. on UK fuel, as they are set up on better fuel than we can get here in UK.
