Hi apologies if this has been posted before.
I was on Holiday last week in Spain and flicked on BBC World. There was news item saying loads of Nissan cars were getting recalled because of an engine problem. Then the newsreader said Nissan make cars under the Subaru badge.
Now even the last bit is news to me. Have they got it wrong? Anyone know anything about this.

these are some NISSAN branded parts i found on my uk99
absolutely amazed!!
jap car makers must share quite some parts so not suprised to hear one makers recall affecting another, wouldn't suprise me in the slightest!!

There is plenty of shared parts between subaru and nissan, the rear diff on mine is the same as a 300ZX, as are the rear brake calipers, Subaru 4 pot front brakes are the same as nissan too (yes they brand them as Subaru).
This is the same in the UK, with thousands of small companies making parts for all the UK manufacturers, for example companies like GKN make the driveshafts and UJ's for most of the UK factories, whoever they are. Same with Garret for turbo's etc etc.
It's normal practice in the motor industry to share parts made by a subcontracting company, it keeps the costs down.

Some of the switchgear (Mirror control, window switches) in my mates Mitsubishi GTO are the same as my WRX. Lots of manufacturers share the same parts bins for stuff like that I think, I doubt Nissan have anything to do with scooby engines though.
