after 4 door dings in my prized scooby and silly round town mpg i figured i would spend a few $$ on stolen recovered car/shed to get to and from work and abuse in tesco's

now the scoob (import WRX type R)costs £1380 fully comp with 6 years on not hitting anything

the 1.3 escort i have my eye on at a bank splitting £180 would cost best quote £430 tpft!!

am i missing something?? scoob group 20 highly prized by theiving toe rags and more likely to get you in bother and more likly to be pricly to repair!!

i could buy a new cheap car if i wrote it off anyway! how much dmaage can you do in a push rod shed!!

my insurance won't let me drive other cars as i'm only 24

also laydee has her own car, i have asked her to see if its cheaper for her to insure as a second car in her name with me a named driver

joke is she reguarly prangs her car, scared me and other road users silly and pays £240 full comp on £5k worth of new ibiza

i have done numourous advanced driving courses and do test track driving all my cars have been quick or fairly nippy and i am the expensive one to insure!

thing is as a tax paying law abidding citizen, they would take me to court and the cleaners as i should know better than not insure a car and the erk who works the system gets a small fine and our taxes pay for the poor blighter he runs over and the court time

If you had been able to drive thrid party on your cover (i can't either) the other car wouldn't need to be insured in her name - just registered. The only problem is when getting tax - but can usually do this with a cover note from your policy for "additional temporary car", just add it for a week.

I have a 1.8 second car, and Admiral allowed me to use the scoob's NCB to count on it too. 260 Fully comp. If I crashed it I would push it into a hedge, but the difference between FC and TPFT is very little.

That's a 1.8 litre second car, not a 1.8s car...
Worth about 1K.

Cool

I'm with Liverpool Victoria. Just put a 1988 Cavalier on the Scoob insurance. Fully comp was 237.00, where as Churchills wanted 250 TPFT, go figure that one out!

How do,
When Insurance comps do there quotes, they have to take in to account third partys, that is how much damage you shed of a Escort could potensionally do to lets say a Merc, or a Scooby, and how much that would be to repair. Its not based to closly on how much your car is worth if it was nicked. And no I don't work in Insurance,:rolleyes just had it explained to me once when I had the same problem. H reg Escort estate 1.8 Diesel,Age 39, £380. HOW MUCH.

See ya Paul.

It's all bollox really

Basic third party cover should cost X pounds and should be the same for everyone, regardless of who you are! Let's face it, accidents happen therefore I'm as likely to have one as the next guy, I might hit a Ferrari, he might a Micra so it's impossible to factor in repair costs as you don't know what you're gonna hit, if anything! Plus as it's only Third party it doesn't matter a sh*t what you're driving as you're not gonna get paid out for repairs to it anyway

Maybe I'm being far too sensible

Exclamation

Endsleigh said that once I had 5 yrs NCD I could hold a policy on a second car with them and use the NCD on both.

Not back up to 5yrs yet when I do I intend to do the same thing, I priced the insurance on a £350 mini--£1200 premium (similar on a £800 2ltr legacy estate)
