Novaman Moves to Scooby Classics
#1
Have you all noticed that classic scoobys are are now within reach of Novaman and various other *******, gagies and scallies?
Its the end of the classic as any sort of reasonable proposition:its official, a classic scooby is as naff as a Nova.

It's only the end of the classics credibility if you have gold wheels and a unfeasably large spoiler (inverse relation to ***** size). Add to that the "de-tango'd" look, some crappy jap tuning firm stickers and hey presto a Nova boys wet dream.
That's one of the reasons I chose a wagon- you never see any neds driving them and most people assume they are slow- wrong.

Agreed.
I drive a bugeye but still love to see the well kept classics.
So on this line of thinking I wonder if ferrari owners think that Scoobyboys/girls can now afford a 10 year old ferrari .. does that make em crap..
I dont think so.
Probly not very well explained, but you know what I mean

im sorry but I dont agree. yes, a scoob can be picked up for 4k nowadays, but insurance for the young so-called novaman is still extortionate enough to put them off. I know youngsters with novas and good jobs who`d love a scoob, but dont due to the aformentioned reason.

lol @ this post
ive had loads of novas, including a max power drive by feature car (long time ago and i was like 17 or sumthing)
does that make me a **** lol?
does that mean i splatter RGM corner splitters all over my scoobys front bumper?
does that mean i fitted lexus rear lights?
does that mean that im not good enough to pay 8.5k for a classic Wrx
none of the above thank you very much
i actualy here this crap quite a lot, due to me knowing lots of people who still drive novas/saxos/small tin boxes which are full of stick on crap etc etc
i hate fibreglass add on rubbish, never liked it, only ever fitted 1 set of fibreglass skirts, and that car was being built for my ex GF
if they can afford the early cars and can afford the insurance, let them go and modify the car with sum stupid jap styling bodykit, its there car
i like the comments about the old ferraris, do u think all the new ferrari owners think to themselves "ooo u can get a early ferrari forthe same price as a sti impreza and al the scooby owners will buy them and spray the wheels gold i better sell mine"

Yawn yawn
There's good and bad Nova's and there's good and bad classic's - each to their own, as for aspirations we all have 'em but I'm more than happy with what I got.
Lecture over (too much beer again last night !! )

If Novaboy did get a scoob...how long would it last before it either...
a) Goes through a hedge backwards at 100mph
b) Blows up - thanks to the dawes set at 20psi and the MAP sensor cut-out by-passed
c) Runs out of money thanks to the fuel consumption
Ned can only afford 3rd party...so it's bye bye wet dream
Anyhoo. How many Neds do you see in Supra's, old BMW's, And what about Nissan Skylines - I've seen them for as little as £3500.
You also seem to forget that by the time ned can afford to buy+insure a scoob (or one of the above) He has hit at least 20. By which time he has either
a) Gets Tracey preggers and has buy house, pay bills, etc.
b) Gets banned fot 3 years
c) Or simply...just grows up!

It's a natural progression if you ask me, most of us were there at one time or the other (I know I was), If they've worked hard to afford the car, then the insurance and with no help from Mummy and Daddy. Good luck to them.

sorry saint imho yer talking bollx....
i'm 33 and have, a classic wagon..
imo
1) tis good that these young lads aspire to own scoobies and most see them as a modern motoring icon..(thats good?)
2)how many scooby owners can say hand on heart-they havent altered anything on his/her motor..?? (how many have of us if they had the chance for bhp increasing exhaust "that was mondeo noise levels" would buy that rather than the one of the assortment of loud exhausts that are out in 'scoobyland'??..not many i think. So are we that diferent to nova boys when we look at it in detail?
3)when we where that age..did we not dream of ways to get more poke from our early escorts and mini's....(big bore exhausts and big carbs sound familiar to any?).what about body kits we had seen mags at the time?(we are no different. Its just the market for these add-ons know is greater and wider ranged than we ever had!!)
4)plus most by the time they can afford to own and insure a scooby they will be mature enough...(yes theres some who will be exceptions to the rule..rich parents paying for everything...but we have seen it all before-super rich kids getting porkers for the 18'th birthday etc etc-but the are the minority)
5)also the next generation of scooby owners,i suspect many would be ex nova boys..and anything that maintains/enhances the 'scooby world' (ie from parts suppliers/garages/etc etc) is good .
6)also-theres lots of scoobs now with "nova boy era body kits and neons etc"...i dont like imho ,but they have been modded very well to usually high standards.why's that so different to the max power brigade??
So Saint..thats my honest thoughts on the "high brow" attitude youre sprouted on yer thread
anyone agree with anything i have said?

There is a simple way to stop Ned getting hold of a classic....
Everybody who owns a Scoob...DO NOT SELL IT!!
Hopefully this will mean that there will be no Scoobs on the market, and with demand etc, the 2nd hand prices will increase as anyone who wants one can't find one.
Sort of like a Scoobynet OPAC

I took off my rear high level spoiler as I thought it lloked like a Max Power type thing to have on the back. However the reason i did this was because when I bought the car it also had on it sun strips (whcih were removed within 5 mins of picking the car up), stickers down both doors (removed within 6 hours). It also has silver wiper arms (to be removed asap) and neon washer jets (seller was allowed to keep the footwell neons and as soon as I get some standard ones they will be coming off!!).
Anyway once I get the Max Power stuff off the car the high level rear spoiler will be going back on to compliment the Brembo 4 pots, Tein coilovers & 18" Techomagnesio Detroit F1 wheels. personally I like the de-tango'd look.
Just need to find a black fronted scoop (MY93).
Classics are definitely not Novas. Those progressing from a Nova to a Scoob (and that could easily mean a bugeye / blobeye is said kiddies parents are rich) are more likely to go for a 'sport' version given the hammering under 25's (or 30's) would get on a turbo.
So what anyway who gives a ****
