O.k,

Trying to narrow down the choice, they are : WRX MY03, Audi S3 & Leon Cupra R.

WRX would be new, S3 used, Leon used but re-map to 260bhp - what would you go for any why ?

Based on: Performance, Image, Depreciation, Reliability, Dealers.

I quite fancy the Leon, but not sure about build quality, is it build on par with Subaru & Audi yet ?

Is the Audi 4WD system a bit toy town ?

and are Subaru residuals & image going down ?

Cheers.......

S3 (now changed to TT) and LCR owned by colleagues at work so here go the comments from them.

S3 - Totally uninspiring chassis and very vague steering. Nice factory Bose stereo though.

LCR - Lovely mota but after the first 1000 miles things begin to look and feel tired. Get a REVO chip and the MPG will go through the roof but very nice power. Paint finnish is very iffy, rear cupra r badge, red r inlay falls out of its own accord, Front tyres are eaten likes chips on a Saturday night (quickly).

MY03 WRX - Excellent.

Between the S3 and the LCR it's the LCR.

WRX is probably the best bet
S3
Drive the S3 after a WRX and you will be disapointed. Small and well over-rated IMHO
image...up to you I couldn't give a monkey's
depreciation..... disaster unless you are getting the new model old ones will drop like a stone,
reliability on a par with Scooby
Dealers depends what your local is like...good and bad
Cupra R
Tough one 260bhp with solid torque means it will fly, certainly a match for the WRX in most conditions
Image Those that know or care will respect it as a performance bargain others.. Seat? Spanish Cheap and cheerful VW parts bin isn't it?
Depreciation Starts lower so on a scale shouldn't be too bad new model arrives 2004 though
Reliability generally ok VW not the best with spares availability
clutch problems common your warrenty would be shaky with the mods
(Revo AMD or Jabba?)
Dealers Seem OK recent good sales performance and elevated VW Sport
range image has helped to up liven up the franchises again depends on your local, but most seem better than average
WRX I wont go on here but IMHO best balance of the above!
