First heard about this about 6-7 months ago. I think it looks very good, the question is will they use subaru's interior or will it get a quality Saab one.
Time with the 03WRX could be drawing to a close.

The new Saab 9-2X will be produced in Fuji Heavy Industries' facilities in Japan, beginning in the spring of 2004.

If the production delays are anything like for the new 9-3 (had one on order for about 6 months, before giving up and buying the scoob - have never looked back) I can't imagine seeing this until early - mid 2005...

Might be an interesting upgrade path, especially if they do and STi version...

The new Saab 9-3 Sport Saloon uses the Epsilon floorpan which was developed by GM as a global platform for use across a number of marques. The new Opel/Vauxhall Vectra also uses the Epsilon floorpan, though Saab has reengineered their versions to an extent, IIRC.

As Top Gear magazine says: Do not let anyone persuade you that the 9-3 Sport Saloon is a Vectra in drag. It is so much better than that. ...or words to that effect
