side exit exhaust systems

Anyone got one?
seen them on a few rally cars in the past, but interested to know if anyone makes them?
not that i particuarly want one just curious!
obviously less pipe work involved, but what are the benefits if any?
if the pipe exits beneath drivers door, flamer kit could be rigged up for anti-hijack flames!

Side exit on a Scoob rallycar? That'd be a rare beast. Grp N/A/WRC all homologated and have to have rear exit. Even if this weren't a problem, ground clearance/stone impact issues caused by taking exhaust under the cabin would probably cause more problems than it'd solve.

sorry - not clear.
saw one on a escort cossie in belguim (24hrs Ypres), about...oooh...8 years ago?
was on Patrick Snjiers/Danny Colebunders car.
they were competing on mainly tarmac events mind you.

Seen a classic scoob with a side exit exhuast, custom made by Hayward and Scott (Essex), came out (both sides I think) just in front of the rear wheel and had a long oblong shaped 'back' box
