Trade Sales have 03 brand new WRX's in Silver or Black for 17K on the road, good deal or not??

Took a look at one and it has stereo/alarm fitted as per UK spec, in fact everything seems to be in order....anyone let me know why not to go for one of these over a UK supplied car?

To confirm I chose a uk MY02 WR Blue with 8K miles for 16K and I'm pretty sure this was the right option.

Any opinions or advice would be cool, also did anyone get their Scoobs from Trade Sales on Slough?

Cheers!

I looked at these and there was another site which I can't remember but it turned out they were grey imports and didnt have a genuine 3yr warrenty.

I decided the warrenty was worth the extra and bought mine brand new from a main dealer. Peace of mind and all that.

as above, it depends where the cars are from. If they are European imports then they will have full Subaru warranty. But, if they are from Cyprus (for example) they will have no warranty, in which case you might as well go for a full JDM import from the likes of Litchfields.
I bought a car for my sister from Trade Sales and it is a proper European car but have heard rumours which would suggest that caution is advisable!

I looked at Trade Sales for my 03 WRX - in fact I bought my girlfriends Renault Clio 172 from there - but it was a French Manufactured Car with full Euro 2yr Renault Warranty for £11,995 as opposed to £15K from a Renault Dealer.
- Big Downside is that they pre-register all the cars to a Car Hire company (allbeit with zero miles on the clock)!

So for warranty question marks, a previous owner and no Category 1 alarm etc - it was a no brainer with the Subaru - especially as the nice people at SGT gave me a decent discount .....

I looked at trade sales before buying my MY03. The cars are from Malta or Cyprus and carry no warrenty. I couldnt afford a new UK car so I brought a second hand one from someone on here. Paid 17K for a UK car with 4K on the clock.

Same here - When I was looking (in May) Trades Sales' Scoobs were sourced from Cyprus but it took them ages to admit it to me.

I eventually bought a 52 plate MY02 WRX with 4.5k miles for £15k from a main dealer....

I have a UK dealer supplied WRX on the boat at the moment. I looked at the Motorpoint WRX cars but they did'nt have front side airbags, came with only a one year Motorpoint warranty and were sourced in Cyprus. Don't know about the alarm and underseal. I would guess that Trade Sales cars have similar issues.

I'd personally wouldn't touch trade sales with a barge pole.
Make sure you've got written confirmation (from a third party) re country of origin and warranty issues.

Motorpoint told me that the one year warranty on the WRX was their's and not Subaru's.

I had a look at the MY03 cars at trade sales....

The 17K price is not on the road - talk to the salespeople and you find that there is a "admin" fee (about £180 from memory) and you have to pay registration and car tax on top - so its more like 17.5K. If you want it cleaned before you pick it up then even thats extra.

The killer as far as I was concerned is that there is no warranty although they say they are from europe - this would indicate they are grey imports from cyprus or malta.

The black wrx they had was VIN JF1GDAKD33G035408 - I think new UK MY03 WRX owners will be able to confirm that this vin is identical to their cars with the exception of the last 5 digits, therefore I think it is probably reasonable to assume that they are UK spec (with the possible exception of the alarm).

Tradesales warranty is circa £800 for 3 years - but its an insurance type scheme so claiming for some items could be a bit of trial.

The final issue is that main uk subaru agents don't have to service or repair grey imports if they dont want too... you could be on your own.

So you can have an import with a 3 year warranty for just over £18K or haggle at your local subaru dealer and have UK model for £19K - I know which I would do.

Looked at Trade Sales at end of June for a WRX. Screen price was £17k plus extras - warranty (again the car I looked at was non EC and all warranty was via their insurance scheme), alarm, immobiliser, tax, plates, admin and they were only £500 less than a dealer. Went through Sparshats (Grant) and got a new one for £19k and reckon you could easily get another £500 quid off now that the new shape's been around for a few days.

Whatever you do, haggle hard fopr a new hi-fi and speakers (all round) as the standard items are garbage. Also, ask for a PPP upgrade at your first service at cost (circa £800-£1000).

Also, highly recommend the reverse parking aid. They don't drill the bumper like most models and it's teh best £200 spent on it so far - do dents on the rear. Shame two idiots have dented my rear doors!

Have fun.

Must agree with Ajax - I've had my WRX since bonfire night. Got a written '3 year parts and labour' warranty. Mine came with side air bags, stereo, metallic paint and 6 months tax - even get a tracker fitted at trade price if you ask...AND the deal was done so smoothly (btw I don't work for Well Lane, just very impressed...)
