I've seen lots of these so-called "performance mods" on e-bay - have any of you fitted one? What exactly is the score with them?

--------------------If your vehicle is equipped with electronic fuel injection, it will. 99% of cars manufactured after in or after 1988 are equipped with a fuel injection. It will however not work on turbocharged vehicles---------------

Think this one's been done millions its a resistor that tricks the ecu into thinking the air charge is cooler than it is thus advancing ignition if I remember correctly....prolly bout 10p's worth of resistor spliced into the intake temp signal to the ECU.

....And very dodgy. The company I used to work for manufactured the MEMS engine ECUs for Rover. I saw an ECU modded in this way blow up two Rover 220 turbo engines before the the resistor mod was spotted!
