I recently had tints put on my MY03 STI. Metallic based on the side and NON-Metallic on the rear because of the ariel. Immediately after fitting the radio reception was useless. Guy who fitted said he stopped using metallic based on rear for exactly that reason. Subaru dealer checked it out and said it was shorting the radio. I had it removed today and problem solved.

He said he'd replace it with a different brand - he uses "Johnsons".

If anyone here has had tints fitted to an MY03 could they post/email me the brand/fitter so I can get it sorted.

Had tints on mine - FM is fine but MW is complete sh1te. Did your problem affect all bands?

FM worked ok on local stations but was certainly worse than before. MW stopped completely.

Get Radio 1,2,3,4 all ok plus local commercial crappy stations. Miss my Radio 5 live though so will be investing in a Dab tuner.

Johnsons film, that sounds like car2tint ??. if so used them back in May and havent had any problems with the radio but im not running the oem head unit either.

peter, you're right. he says i'm the first to have any problems - must be a combo of their film and my03 ariel.

Nobody here can tell me of a supplier/brand of tints that has worked ok on an MY03 ??

I have johnsons on my my03 wrx, and the radio reception on mine is ok, but again different head unit, dont know if that makes a difference.
