Question

Someone at work was telling me about the flat-four engine in the Jowett Javelin from the fifties, and how the engine design had been bought up by Ford, then dropped, then adopted by Subaru.

However, another unlikely snippet from the Web suggests otherwise:
History of Borgward cars (Third paragraph)

Anybody know the official story, or even the true story ?!

Hah - the difficulties of cut'n'paste after drinking
Thanks goonasuk for straightening it out.

Unfortunately I told the guy at work that loads of people would know the history, and all would be revealed since ScoobyNet is such a mine of knowledge in matters Subaru.

Or maybe not.
