No, I am not nuts!

Finally got pissed off the with wee stone chips on the front of my bonnet and trying to save money so no trip to chips r us at the moment.

Anyway, Touched up the stonechips, let them dry properly, then carefully applied masking tape around the touchup, then got a small screwdriver and attached a small amount of wet'n'dry paper to the end and very carefully proceeded to rub away, after about 10 mins or so got it nice and level with the paintwork.

Next took a cloth with a small amount of rubbing compound and gently rubbed the area (Masking tape till applied) for a few mins, Removed masking tape and wiped off excess compound, next applied a small amount of Zymol wax and rubbed in, the polished off and voila! Stone chip? What stone chip?

going to be doing the rest of them next weekend!

Cool thanks for the info, will give mine a go. Suspect it may take me a **** long time tho, due to the amount of chips my bonnet is half red mica and half grey primer!!!!

heh yeah,

Just gotte be careful you don't take off the laquer around the bit you touched up, hence the masking tape!

tip I had wondered if that would work. I now that you can polish off the marks left by wet & dry but hadn't tried that with stone chips. what did you do about the laquer?

My mate has some laquer stuff so might see if I can re-laquer the but i touched up. as far as the original laquer is concerned, thats why I put the masking tape right around the chip so I don't accidently take it off!

Seems to work quite well

The Stone chip Scores

1 down - 30 odd to go!
