Hi all,

I bought a MY96 Scooby Wagon UK turbo for the missus a few months back. It has 140k on the clock and it's still as happy as a pig in sh*t. However, it's service time !

The car has full Subaru history up-to-date, but I would rather service it myself from now on. Is this gonna impact eventual resale value ? I wouldn't have thought so, but just thought I'd ask !

Cheers

go independent - I can't see it affecting the value of the car much now

What about doing it meself and keeping the bills ? I would just rather know what oil/plugs/leads etc are fitted and know that they are good quality. I'm not looking to save money on the cost of the service, just rather have quality components.

I think you're right though, can't hurt the value that much.

Cheers

I've serviced mine myself since 60k miles. I doubt you'll lose that much in resale compared to what you'll save from service costs.

given the current market and your mileage, DIY is the way forward. simply not worth the cost to have it serviced main dealer.

DIY is indeed the way forward, provided you know your stuff. Given the age of the car, it is likely to be sold privately, and thus a sheaf of receipts plus a load of loving glances and references to the work you've done to "your baby" will probably be worth more to an interested buyer than an FDSH!

Whats happened to the only get it serviced at a main dealer or it will only be worth £50 when you go to sell it brigade
