performance question

alright people,
i'm looking at buying a scooby in the next month, prob a 1994-1995 wrx or uk turbo.
my question is whats the performance of each BHP, 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 etc.. as i'm getting quoted £400-£500 extra on insurance for a wrx and dunno if it's worth the extra cost, i think it prob is but thought i'd findout for sure
thanks

You'll find answers to most questions of this sort at places like here, while hitting the search button at the top of this page will help a lot too.
At the age you're looking at, a UK turbo will come with about 208bhp standard while the WRX will probably do about 240 - but on Japanese market 100 octane fuel. It must be run on Super Unleaded and octane booster for safe performance in this country, unless it has been remapped for our fuel.
Whether this is worth the extra is a slightly nebulous point. I daresay a standard UK car will be more than enough to keep you happy.
In general terms, the better buy of the two will be the one that is closer to standard and has the fuller service history.

You could always put a ScoobyECU into the UK car.
It's a chip for the ECU containing a new map that should give approx WRX performance - it costs about £100. That evens things up a bit.
It will count as a mod on the insurance, but most likely not the £500 difference for the WRX.
The WRX has shorter gears than the UK car, which may or may not suit you. They also tend to come with more standard toys than the UK cars - eg. most WRXs have aircon.
