OK, so we've commented on the P1 - where is it - why isn't it here threads - is it as good as they say - and is the STi better etc threads...

One thing that interests me (& Phil Hulse) is just how many people on here have got one on order??

So fora little bit of fun - if you've ordered on spare a min and advise the following...

a) when ordered
b) from where
c) deposit paid
d) how much (deposit)
e) delivery date

Ref mine...

a) 7 days after London Motor Show
b) R N Golden/Huddersfield
c) No
d) N/A
e) Hopefully by 15/05/00

This is just out of interest - geez I must be bored!!!

Hope you all have a good weekend either playing in your P1's (lucky gits) or whatever you have to play with !! (Ohhh Errrr Missus!!)

Cheers Rum

Aaron,
Are you serious? end of JUNE. Is this b****cks or what. I'm beginning to get really p**sed with this farce! How come Neil orders his 3 months later and gets it 3 months earlier than you. How do Subaru decide who gets and who doesn't or is there something else going on? If you know what I mean.

Phil.

P.S. It's probably me in a bad mood-monthly cycle and all that sorry

Phil it all depends on the dealers efficiency I believe. I ordered from SGT on the understanding that I would get a fully refundable
deposit if I didnt want the car.
They tell me I am number 7 on a list of 16
So if cars are being delivered in batches of 2 or 3 then to be honest end of June is about right.
I had to send a fax to Subaru about 3 months ago to say that I wanted the car cos some dealers have false orders.
Fortunately I have had the pleasure of twatting a P1 to the limit so I make my own assumptions as to how good it REALLY is.
I`m no motoring journo but you could say I have some experience but I wont bore you with that.
I`ll just keep enjoying my 97 5 door until I get the nod, and b4 you all decide to blow £2000 on cosmetic upgrades look at the Alcon brake kit, I did and have tested it to the extreme. My car will have the kit fitted.
regards to you all, and keep waiting.

Here we go then:

a) December 1999
b) Lancaster Sevenoaks
c) Yes - fully refundable after test drive
d) £500
e) No idea at all, either from IM or dealer

Interesting thing is that IM sent a letter to all dealers more than 2 weeks ago giving a reason for the delay - but nobody seems to have received a copy from their dealer passing the news on

I am number 20 on a list of about 24 at my dealer so will probably get my car sometime in July - but who knows???????

With regard to the idea of sending 2 cars to each dealer - absolute crap. The cars should have been delivered in the precise order that the customers placed them at their dealers. This explains how someone who ordered their car only a couple of months ago can now drive it around in the next couple of weeks whilst some of us have been waiting over 4 months without communication from their dealer, more in several cases.

Oh, I know of two dealers who made false orders when the original batch of 500 was announced so they would get as many cars as possible. Now, if not all 1000 P1's are sold (and everyone says they are not, except IM ) how long before "new" or "demonstrator" cars are being sold lower than £31,495.....

Only a thought, but I'll get me coat now

Here's my info

a) Day of release...
b) King & Sons
c) No
d) N/A
e) No idea......

It's a nice idea that people would get them in the order that they placed their orders in - I certainly wouldn't complain - but from a logistic point of view a bit harder as it might mean transporters running round all the dealerships dropping off individual cars...

Another question to maybe add to the list - any options planned from the official list.
Personally, I like the look of the 330mm brakes, and will probably get them fitted.

Cheers
Alastair

Saw and sat in a P1 in the flesh on Saturday morning. One word of advice - get a SS (or similar) backbox. The exhaust note of this one on Saturday was quieter and less 'enticing' than a standard UK car. Even my wifes Freelander sounded meatier!

I’ve already arranged with my dealer to take my Scoobysport exhaust off my Terzo and fit it to my P1 before I collect it.

The only other thing to do then is see if my Cibies will fit onto the P1.

Still waiting for that phone call!!

The backbox is std STI. Most sound quiet unless the car has been taken out for a blast. Its better than the std UK one, but I'd follow your advise.

Jonathan

Now where is it Pete ?

Jonathon it was 'quieter' than a cold UK exhaust, and certainly quieter than a cold STi import - and the exhaust was warm to the touch- so wasn't that cold!! - extra silencer, bigger muffler??

You might be right. Even though its an STI backbox its quiet. Not sure its any different than the UK one though. Drove to the dealers in my MYOO and back in the P1.

Still I'll fit the SS soon as Pete delivers. One thing I noticed when I test drove the Prodrive Demo car was even with the new backbox how quiet it was in car. Lets see how it is with the SS. One thing that might make a difference is the Prodrive boot carpet for a deadening.

For those who dont like the look of the lights. Covers are supplied with the P1 logo on. The assement from the office was it improved the looks !

That ride is a lot nicer than my old MY00 and the engine feels very lose low down with 50 miles on the clock. It took my MY00 1000 miles to feel the same.
