Question

Hi,

I'm looking at a P1 for sale with 40k full service history...

What I want to try and do is validate that the service history is genuine... I've tried ringing subaru and they haven't been very helpfull.... surely there is some way to check it otherwise it's useless. 2 of the dealers listed are no longer operating so I can't ring them direct. When I bought an audi you just rang a dealer they looked it up on a central computer and told me all the services had definitely happend.

I know Subaru can tell when your warranty expires and they also should receive the details if your car's had the bodywork service, but AFAIK the Dealer doesn't pass on the servicing details to IM (Subaru UK).

My own car had it's first 4 services done at a Dealer who's no longer trading. No idea how a potential buyer could validate it though.

one of the services has been done in Switzerland, with a Subaru dealer who no longer exists... so that makes it even more complicated for me... there are some receipts too so I do beleive them ...
BUT... the main issue is, its still within warranty (years and mileage) and I don't want any hassle at the dealer if it breaks down!!!

cheers

PS: does AFAIK = as far as I know???? sorry but I'm not a

yes AFAIK means that exactly.

Best thing is to phone IM (Subaru UK) and enquire if the car is under warranty. You should only need the registration number for them to check. If the say yes and the book is stamped, then I can't see IM having any problems accepting warranty claims (if you're unlucky enough to need any).

IM will also confirm if you can then extend the warranty when it expires.
