Question

Hi,

The Yoko A520's which (I believe) have been on the car from new, have pretty much had it - 23,000 miles on.

Sooo... need new tyres. It's a (bought from this website) 00MY Classic on 17" speedlines. The car is used daily and driven 'enthusiastically'. It has seen the occasional track, but this is just for the hell of it as a change of car at the end of the day and not a regular occurence - so I don't want a track tyre - they need to last.

I don't like the 520's - they seem to tramline and the car has shocking understeer. In the wet (around Spa), chuck it into a corner and it oversteers until the throttle is touched, even a tiny bit. I'd prefer to go everywhere sideways.

So c'mon, let me know what's what and I'll buy 'em.

Thanks for your help.
Si.

Bridgestone SO2's are a great wet weather tyre and are a great dry weather tyre so big thumbs up if you can get them

Bridgestone SO3' are a superb wet weather tyre and fairly good dry weather tyre but wear rates in the dry are quite high, mine only lasted 4500miles.

Trying some Goodyear eagle F1's but onlt 100 miles on the clock yet

IMHO

I'm currently evaluating a set of Avon ZZ3's which have not had a good press

But seem good so far

I have always been Toyo fan

Running Eagle F1's on the front as my Bridgestones gave out after 21,000 k/m (that's about 13,000 miles to you). Have done about 1,500kms in them and they seem to get better and better (especially after I put the recommended amount of air in them!). Tremendous grip in the dry and haven't had enough wet weather to be able to say yet. The side walls feel a lot softer than the Bridgestones and definitely inspire confidence...just hope I get as many Kms out of these as the old boots gave me - but I doubt it !

Edited to say 225/45/17's, STi7
