My car is detting due to a fcuked fuel pump.
The car has not been taken much past 4,000 rpm and will not be taken past that untill I get the new pump fitted on Thursday (18th). I'm also very gentle with the fun pedle
Is the car safe to drive around til' then?

It took 1 hour to do the first 15 miles. All in all, a right ****** of a day.

I think it is susceptible initially at about 3800 RPM and then again at the higher end. Thats when I get some Knock Link activity if I am booting it. If you are only using light throttle it should not det but could still run dangerously lean.

I would have thought it would be EXTREMELY hard to predict when/if det would occur. If you know the pump is not doing it's job then I personally would not risk driving it at all, unless you can rely on the management to stop the engine from running lean.
