Unhappy

Just had a letter from Lancaster Pangbourne to say from end of september they will no longer represent Subaru franchise. They then say that the nearest garages to me are SGT in Taplow or Adams Brothers in Aylesbury. Taplow is over 35 miles away and Aylesbury is over 50 miles away!!!. They gotta be having a laugh. Where do you West Berkshire scooby owners take yours for servicing. I guess as the car is still under warranty we have not choice but to go to a scooby garage.

Many thanks.....

Tell me about it...... I used to use Mill Lane - and they lost their franchise (don't know why)...now Lancaster.

May be time to change car manufacturer I think...

Bulldog Twyford in Twyford (funnily enough),nr Reading has just become a new Dealer in the area. Went past there the other day and just saw a small used car site with a very small 2 bay workshop. It used to sell Hyundais and Kia's....

Thanks Nat,

Well Twyford is nearer for me, I have spoken to Lancasters this morning and he informed me that there will be non-sales garages who will be subaru approved for servicing opening in this area in the near future. Good job I just had mine serviced last week i say!!!!.

Does anyone else use Subaru4you?. I live in Thatcham and have never heard of it or heard anyone ever mention it before. Just being cautious i guess.

I found out Pangbourne was going a few weeks ago. As I live about 2 miles from Pangbourne I was a little disappointed. I used the location of the dealer as part of my decision for buying the car.

I wouldn't buy a car I couldn't easily service.

Not lancasters fault by all accounts though, all at Pangboune will be made redundant on Sept 30th.

Posh if you work in Reading we might by able to pool cars. I'll give you a lify when you have a service and vice versa... Well it's a thought :-)

Yeah I have used Len many times, for all the services from 60k up to the recent 75k one. Len has also fitted many different parts to my car and is well worth giving a call.

The only problem you might have is that he is not an authorised dealer, etc... so it will invalidate your warranty. He uses proper Subaru parts, etc... for all of the servicing, but I thought I'd better let you know in advance.

Bagpuss,

I dont work in Reading, actually I dont work at all!!!. Seriously though, must be a real pain for you living that close to Lancasters. Looks like Bulldogs in Twyford for you. I am still trying to find out further info about this garage in Thatcham. But I am still concerned about the warranty stuff.

There's a scooby garage near Hungerford, if that's any help.
Here.

I don't know anything about them though, so I can't give you a recommendation as such.

As long as Len is using standard Subaru parts it shouldn't invalidate your warranty I believe. I think they changed the rules recently on warranty. Before you could get your car serviced by a non-Subaru dealer in the first year because FHI gave the warranty, but you had to use a Subaru dealer for years 2 and 3 because IM provided that warranty. I know Pete from Scoobysport posted on this a while back, but I cannot use search through the company proxy (blocks the cookie, funny it lets me post though!)

Here's another vote for Subaru4you, Len has looked after my 97WRX for the last 30K miles. He always uses genuine subaru parts and is considerably cheaper than main dealers.
