I LOVE the looks of the classics (or GT's as the french and french forums refer to 'em) and I own a STi7 bugeye..the MY02 version which gets slated a lot on SN.

Do I care? Think I bought a lemon?

Nope !

The more I push the car, the more I love it. And I push it a lot !

Got 22K kilometres on the clock in 10 months (compared to 7K per year in my old car), she's well loosened up and gives many, many thrills. New boots go on tomorrow (F1 Eagles) so that will be even more interesting...not to mention the fun I'm gonna have ragging the hell out of the old ones on the country roads before I get to my dealer

Say what you want about the bugeye, I don't care. It shines like a beacon on the road, goes like **** off a shovel and *** I *** love it...and so do a lot of people who work/live around here. Morettes...nah, not for me, but fair play to those who do - I prefer the black STi inserts. Not for me are the blob eye rear clusters...can't do it, sorry !

I'm sure I will de-tango, and maybe, just maybe, dump the gold alloys (my jury is not out on that one) and then hit the Eucutek road. Looks are not as important in my book - performance is.

So, change the bug-eye look? No way - the look and the performance of it make it different.

Be happy with your choice folks - they are all Subaru's and they are all damn good driving machines !!!

During my time of Impreza ownership I have always been a through and through Classic man.

I have always loved the look of Type R's and P1's as well as my own MY00 classic.

My plan always was to buy a P1 next, since the prices are becoming more and more reasonable each day.

Furthermore, I HATED the look of the bugeye model. I really thought Subaru had lost the plot when they released this ugly duckling, which was further corroborated by their almost immediate development/release of the blobeye!

Anyway, last weekend I was at an event in Chatham when I saw a P1 in the car park. Mmmmmmmm, very nice I thought. I couldn't believe it when I saw another one, not 20 yards away.
P1 convention maybe?
Or just heaven....

I was in my element...pity I had a cr@p diesel hired Pug 406, or else I would have said hi to the owners.

Digressing slightly.... I walked past the second P1 and there it was...

Gadget daz's STI7.

Absolutely stunning! Immaculate WR Blue with 19" Gold Superleggeras. Morrettes. STI flaps, tints, FMIC, beautiful. Not to mention the fact that it puts out 404bhp.

<flame-retardant suit mode>

It really made the P1's look dated and bland.

</flame-retardant suit mode>

Gadget Daz's car made my mind up for me.
I no longer desire a P1, its am STI7 for me!

Sorry all you clssic lovers but I've seen the light!

Woohoo welcome to the bugeye "nae pals" corner..... LOL
Still love the look of the type R and P1 but I love the my lowly WRX too.
Saw an absolutely awesome STi7 at a Glasgow meet, twas from Luxemburg if memory serves, and since then I have never thought of the Bugeye as ugly.......Flame suit on BTW...Still you do have to change the WRX lights but after that ...its the daddy IMHO

Welcome to the other side. Let's face it, the world still moves forward, despite some minor mistakes in design. Anglia was also special....

Unfortunately, the STi 7 front end looks rather dated compared to the Blobeyed STi 8

I always treatened (when I owned a Classic) to do the same as the Peugot ad and get an Elephant to 'Fix' the front end But since driving the Impreza 2 I have to save time moves on and Classic means old and quite like the Prodrive light on the Limited Editon MY02's

Crisp,
I wouldn't like to have the Bill, a small fortune at a guess A wonderfull car and as the AA ad says "a very Nice man"

Long live the Bugeye, whoops it's dead, never mind I'm happy The cars great just like me it needs to shed some wieght

Lifes too short

Hated the bugeye when it came out, and was glad to have one of the last classics. Over time the bugeye grew on me a bit and when the STI came out I bought one I never regreted it until the Blooby came out which I thought was even better!

I was about to loose loads of cash as bugeye values were going to take a hit so I swapped for Mr Blooby sharpish and had a reasonalble deal on that.

If they stuck with the bugeye i'd still have it now as I was very happy with it. But i'm even happier with my Blooby

cheer Talizman, not everyones cup of tea but most people love the bug eye after seeing mine, nice to hear

full photo shoot in Japanese Performance Mag out any day now, can't wait hoping for front cover, fingers crossed

yes, it has had a lot of money spent on her, unfortunately lots of people critisize me for spending lots and some people think I'm a "flash tw@t who's got too much money", that actually comes from fellow owners in the SIDC.

leave me alone I say to them, i'm happy and I mod my car for me, if you see me at the shows, I'm the guy with the big grin from ear to ear

I had 99uk turbo classic before therefore i can judge both cars. Believe me the classic is awesome, but the new shape 7 and 8 are both far better build quality and better cars in manufacturing quality

Subaru catered for another market with the Bugeye'd Impreza.

They realised after many years of the Classic, providing cars to the normal and in some cases, handsome/pretty individuals, they needed to produce a car that would level the balance slightly.

Hence the Bugeye was born for really ugly people.

It's funny because I think the bugeye, esp STI7, in WR Blue is a dredful looking car but I saw an STI7 in black the other day and want one.
All in all I never though the bugeye was a bad change, in balance they almaost got it right but it just didn't quite work out.
Cheers.

Would have to agree with HELLOM8, the STI7 in black is the only way to go with a bugeye
