Hi there, i've just got myself a very nice sti v2 (thanks steve nairn sti) and i've got a couple of queries,
1, going to get the cambelt changed and was told the belt is £120 but i've seen them in the scoobyshop for £62 is this a good belt to use?

2, anyone heard of Zero sports? it's got one of their chips in it.

3, should i use an octane booster along with the optimax until i get it checked out on the dyno (next week)

4, on the way home it hesitated a couple of times when i floored it after doing a steady run (at 60 to 70) for a while. Since that time it's been fine, should i be worried? or is there anything i could check?

Also was told it had about 300 bhp, think this is right (with zero sports chip, exhaust, standard filter) certainly feels it.

Any info would be great

cheers Johnny (a very happy scooby driver)

Not worth using cheap belts, too much at stake. Scooby ones or Garrett belts are good and are a little cheaper I think.

we have had our V2 for about five months love it!! we don't use octane boost just optimax, we have a pace front mounted intercooler, full decat, chip, powerboost valve, bailey dump,ITG panel filter. we got 308bhp 267flb at 16 psi @ wells lane 5 we were very happy as this is managable boost for everday use.
does your engine have a red top?? it should also with waterspray fitted aswell. I have all my work done @ www.scoobyclinc.com
they did a bang on job of a respray last month and are looking after it from now on!

good luck with yours any more questions just drop us an emial

ps ours hesitates the same as yours!! having it looked at as we speak possibly down to chip/plugs/coils etc I will let you know.

cheers Ads

Johnny - Seem to recall that the belts Midland Impreza are selling for £39.50 plus VAT are Gates. Sounds a bit too cheap to be true, but worth checking out nevertheless.

Don't forget to factor in the labour, and if you get a garage to do it, make certain it's one who knows Subarus. If this is done wrong, the consequences can be nasty, so it's better to be sure

Having seen the above I have realised that when I said Garrett belts I should have said Gates! That is cheap too, can't be right.

My m8 runs a little autoshop and one of his suppliers is gates so i don't think i'd use one of their belts as most of the parts supplied to him are cheap stuff for Joe skinflint and his citreon bx.

S'alright Les, I was umming and ahhing about buying a Gates hybrid turbo the other day

Johnny - the Gates belts are pretty well thought of, so don't let the fact that your mate stocks them put you off!

If your mate sells them, you should ask him if he can get you one at a good price...
