What with all the current threads like youngest member, youngest owner lets see who owns an Impreza Turbo, has a mortgage i.e. not living with mummy and daddy!, and pays there own way. Sorry for the mild rant, but had some spotty trainee at work yesterday going on at me to buy a scoob and stop dreaming about one. My point is that he's 18 drives a Saxo VTS bought by mummy and daddy outright for him I try and explain that I actually live in the real world and pay my own way, there are other priorities which take over, but he doesnt seem to understand. Dont you just hate people like that?

Though I still live at home (at 28-can't afford to move out), with mummy and daddy, I have always bought my own cars, they wouldn't have bought one for me anyhow (my dad buys his own Scoobies). So I have had to work for them, including two RS' and STI7&8. I do however agree with you, that some people don't appreciate having to strive for what you have when they have had things that easy. But then what else have they got, that you have? They'll soon discover it for themselves.

I only own a sport, but that is out of choice, I could have brought a turbo, but wanted a newer car and less than £1000 a year on insurance.
So My98 auto sport wagon and a £100k+ mortgage Oh and I am 23!!!

Who cares.
I dont live with my parents, but when I did I had some nice cars - and why not, where I was living a 1 bed flat in a half decent area was 140k and at 22 and just left uni I wasnt earning 40k so couldnt afford to move out. So the alternative was to stay around a bit and have a nice car, which I did and wouldnt have changed it.
Its pretty hard for first time buyers, esp if you live in the south and anyway, I wouldnt want to buy into a peaked market at the moment anyway.

To set the picture a bit more, I am 29 living with my fiancee and for the past 5/6 years have desperatly wanted an Impreza Turbo. Have moved 3 times in the same period of time so the scoob has had to remain on a dream for some time now. The good thing is she really likes Imprezas too so no probs there. The only problem is the old property ladder of recent. Now we are in a 3-bed detached with garage (£170k mortgage gulp!), the prospect of owning a set of those hallowed keys is getting brighter by the day.
It just annoys me when I see colleagues in there flash motors giving the "why dont you just go and get one" then I think hang on a minute, yes youve got a flash car, TT, LCR, VTR, VTS, S3 etc but you all stilll live at home with your parents. (ok the citroens arent exactly flash but you know what i mean). Me and my '95 Clio 1.8 16V and my own home. I've got my priorities right, havent I???

I've got an scooby and a £73k mortgage () I could probably afford to keep both but I want to do stuff to the house so the scooby will have to go to free up some disposable income

21 Years, missus is 20
Scooby Turbo Wagon and house £135K Mortgage.
No Mods on the car yet and I nearly had to sell it when we bought the house cos I needed the money but I managed to avoid it.

Well I will shortly be paying £800 a month rent which is the same as buying a house!
I've got a WRX and the other half as a FTO...........
All paid for by us and run by us.
People like the lad mentioned in the first thread does make me alittle pissed off but hey we were all young once right?

The key to it is having a bird living with you that has a similar income! If that was the case I could keep the scooby no problem at all and she'd even have money for girly spending sprees

25, MY03 WRX, own house for 3 yrs (fully refurb. 3 mths ago new roof, roughcast etc so not aq lot of cash for scooby mods at the mo), BABY (17mths) eating me out of house and home and costing me a fortune on childminder/clothes.
I agree with other threads...these mummys boys need to get out in the big bad world and then see if you can afford FQ300's/M3's like some of the boys in my work.(I'm just jealous 'cos mum doesn't cook and clean for me and I can't treat my house like a hotel :-( )
Saxo boy has it spot on...get the good lady (or other half - I'm broad minded in this brave new world) out working and earning at least as much as you and you can still p1ss money up a wall on a Sat night (If you are allowed out that is).
'Team work' is the way forward (although she gets to drive the scoob and has ALREADY kerbbed the passenger front alloy....aaaaaaarrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhh).

25yrs/STi8 Lived alone () for nearly 5 years, now on 2nd house... needed a garage!!! Subaru currently eating me out of house and home with Petrol and stupid woman running into the back of me on a stupid roundabout stupidly claiming it was my fault, and as a result, sending my stupid insurance premium through the stupid roof for this next years worth of stupid cover whilst the claim is sorted out. Stupid.
Apart from that, everything's lovely.
