Hi
A few weeks ago before I went on holiday,I was going round this island when a M3 over took me on the inside .Coming of the island there is a sharp bend so I was right behind him in second coming onto a duel carriageway a car moved over in front of him and he went for it.I put my foot down as soon as he did,I took it to 7500 rpm in second ,third and fourth gear, upto 13? mph.I could not believe that we were dead level the number plate was 02 so it was at least 12 months old.I thought they were supposed to be a lot faster?
The only mods I have is a de-cat exhaust.
Anybody raced one?

They are a classy piece of kit, but the one I was following the other day, did not like the fact that I could stay with him, and eventually pass him on a dual carrigeway, regardless of the way he drove, '98 Prodrive. I got that impression by the way he drove behind me with his Xenons on full beam, tosser.

I've just swapped my P1 for a new M3. They are totally different cars. The P1 is a hugely powerful engine in a baked bean can. The M3 is a hugely powerful engine in a luxury car. I loved the P1 and have owened Scooby's for the last 6 years, however I got bored of being stuck in a traffic jam in a fast car with a very naff interior, poor build quality and more rattles than a pre-school nursery! In the right hands the M3 is just as fast as the P1. The P1 however is half the price of M3. The choice is yours!

Half the price? I don't think so.

Try comparing a 2000 P1 @ £31,500 and a 2000 M3 @ about £38,000

Obviously both have devalued since.

Just had to reply.

I am in the fortunate position to drive a BMW 323 specked to the gunnels, now this is a fantastic luxury car.

I am also in the market for a performance car and have driven the M3 (along with other stuff), what can i say, its an absolutely awsome car. I must say that I have had a few beemers and am a big fan and was going to place a deposit on one (E46 new shape) but a friend suggested a test drive in a P1.

Upshot of all this is that i am now in the market for a P1, why, because it is better performance car than the M3, the BMW is all luxury (like my 323) but not all performance like the P1.

In my opinion if you wanted luxury get a luxury car, if you want performance get a performance car, DON'T MIX THEM you WON'T end up with the best of both.

OK flame away.

Thats a fair comment, all in MHO of course.
Both cars have two different priorities.
The scoob is what i would describe as very "raw", it does what it was designed to do very well, ie, corner ect ect.
The BM also does what it was designed to do very well, ie, transport us in alot more luxury while being fast with it.
If i wanted luxury, id buy the M3.
On the other hand, ect ect.
All IMO of course!
