Its getting harder to blow 'em off

On the motorway today I found it increasingly difficult to pull distance from some of the tailgaters. Particularly the TDi versions of Audi VW and Ford. I am beginning to think midrange is not that good in the Impreza

If you left the Scoob in a high gear then you will struggle. Don't forget most modern TDi's have more torque than a UK Scoob.
Only way to beat them is to use the gears and the all the revs.

The new TDI's have loadsa torque, don't be so lazy and change down a gear then boot it to loose the TDI repmobiles. Think about it, what would you rather be driving?

I've owned a fair amount of diffrent cars since i passed back wen i was 17.....my current one is a Scooby, before it I had a Corrado VR6...completly different cars. Around the streets the scoob would win hands down....but get them both on a motorway and the corrado would prevail. MY97 UK Wagon gets to 120mph but anything after that is a bit of a struggle.....where as the corrado and other similar cars will continu past 120mph with ease....but hey i didnt buy a scoob as a motorway cruiser!

i have an 01 scooby wrx, i had a golf tdi b4, it pulled well on the motorway and was easy to drive. IU don’t like motorway driving in the scoob, it just doesn’t feel good, hard work but then on b roads it’s a dream
I know which I prefer, if you have got a passat then its cause you have to not because you want to!!

Recently drove a Mercedes Sprinter Van around the M.25 twice - God! - are they fast!!!
The only problem was, that when I came back I was fully loaded, but on the way up, it was empty, and rolled about from lane to lane like the proverbial moonbuggy!!!
Now I know why they are widening the M.25 - to keep the rest of us safe from all those lane hopping sprinters!!!

I agree with the 120mph thing!! I've had mine upto 152mph... but after 90mph/110mph the cars got no more PULL left.. it will keep going.. but no PULL.
30-50-90.. wicked.
but there the rev/speeds RallyCars are doing.. thats why Scoob Turbo top end is only 140mph!

Gotta agree about fast TDi's
We have Zafira 16v 2.0 DTi as a courtesey car. It was Ok when we had it, now it has 20000miles of punishment .... it absolutely flys and having 6 passengers in dos'nt baother it a bit. But you must be absolutely bang on with the gear changing. Otherwise you either get some lag or the torque drops off at 4250+rpm.
The latest Transits are pretty darn nippy (if you get the hi-power version) chased an M3 beamer upto 110mph Only beacuse he was driving up my **** - so I thought I'd show him how irritating it is by staying up his **** when he overtook . OK he blew me away in the end, but I bet he thought WTF! (so did I
Sprinters - The only van thats faster is the VW LT TDi's (Must use the gubbins out an A4 or passat)

Wouldn't happen again though - I got a remap

The mags are not wrong I'm not saying that a scoob standard scoob will not go above 120mph it will do its booked top speed...but anything after 120mph is a struggle...unless modified re-map etc.
