Tossers
Isn`t it bl**dy typical that someone gets all upset and makes a stupid remark like that at another marks achievements?? By the way, if you think thats the only GTR pushing 1000bhp turning up , you may be in for a small suprise!!
Before anyone gets all anti lets not forget what cars like this can do for the rest of us with regards to tuning etc and before anyone asks what use a tuned skyline is to a scooby then i suggest you go and ask some of the bigger bhp scooby owners.
Anyway, enough said as i didn`t post this to gloat afterall the GTR and scooby are two entirely different machines when it comes to tuning capabilities and also lets not forget that cars like these are easily into the six figure sum to produce so lets not get anti GTR etc as you are only moaning about the very thing we are all interested in........fast cars.

TOTB, cant wait so the rumours and bull will stop!!

Jasabz, if that little rant was referring(sp?) to POC saying "Bah! tossers" i think you`re completely wrong. I think POC said that because others pointed out to him that he had been beaten to it in reference to the thread about the skyline, i don`t think he was calling the people involved with the skyline tossers. smile, it doesn`t hurt
p.s. its marque`s not marks, thought there was some sort of name thing going on

Jas, chill out, he was not dissing the GTR at all, neither was anyone else who posted.
This car will be impressive to see, and will certainly make my 340 scoob look positively slow if i happen to run against it on Sunday. The other Skylines, and marques will be as interesting to watch as any scoob, just like last year.
IIRC on line booking stopped last night, so you will have to pay at the gate now if you dont already have tickets.
Steven
ps there is one scoob that may provide a few surprises

John, you know the one, but now you mention it, there is another that will be very interesting to watching, especially on the handling circuit.
As for mine, well me thinks the handling may be out due to the one armed bandit driving it

Very, very sorry to POC.
My mistake bud but you do see a lot of stick attached to anything skyline!!!
A bit pedantic on the spelling mistakes though....i thnk i have better things to do than go around pointing out others mistakes but as you probably guessed the keyboard was getting thrashed in anger at the time!!!!
Yes, this truly is one remarkable benchmark to be set in skyline terms, never mind any other mark!!! (marque yes i know but enjoying it now!!;-)).There are one or two others with unconfirmed BHP figures but have the spec to be around those figures also. I think the owners are keeping a lid on the figures til after the event.
I noticed in the other link to the topic that someone mentioned that it wont be any use on the handling track which made me think of another good topic to dicuss.
Do any of you think that a high powered car like this will be of little use?? Also, what do you think will be regarded as the best event to win on the day?? The top speed, the 1/4`s or handling?? I have thought of various arguments fo both as in the handling is a good event coz not all roads are straight, the top speed but how often would you ever be able to do it , or anything close to it on the open roads??The 1/4`s are good but pretty much set for the traffic light boys instead of driving pleasure etc etc.
Not blowing trumpets here but the guy rocket Ronnie did win 1/4s, top speed and came second in the handling plus drove to the event and home again!!! Cant see many of the 1/4 mile GTR`s being driven there or maybe i am wrong?? Although i love the figures got on this car it does somewhat remove TOTB from your average Joe like myself as i have said before, apart from the badge, thre wont be anything really in common with most GTR`s.
Not knocking anyone here its just that i can watch proper drag racing on the TV any night of the week but enjoy the `street race` feel to events like these.
Just my 2p
Jas
Ps good luck to all the Marks with their various marques going to the event!!

See you all there
I'll be the one the slow yellow evo lol
the handling might be my best bit with some fancy brakes, coilovers & corner weighting.
Now all I need is some lessons on how to drive the thing over the next week

For me the event is very much a 3 individual disipline thing. Getting the best alrounder from this is going to be fascinating.
As far as my own chances are concerned, i dont have a hope in hell on the top speed section as my car is on the limiter in 5th at 158MPH, it will easily do that speed in 2/3 of the distance allowed for too, so i will have to just cruise for some of the run.
The 1/4 mile stuff i should be in the middle time group as traction is good and gearing is fairly good, but i will be a mile off the drag strip specials.
The only area i stand any hope of doing well is on the handling circuit, this years handling layout should be able to give the big power cars a better chance of showing what they can really do, if its like the test day its much more open and high speed and has a very fast corner at the far end that will show who has the car balance well setup and can drive to that limit, the tighter stuff should show agility and acuracy or the driver and car. The test layout was excellent IMHO.
If i manage to get into the top 8 shootout for the handling circuit i will be very happy, thats the main aim for me and its going to be incredibly dificult to achieve that i think. Once in the top 8 its anyones, as you have just one go at setting a time to see who is handling champion, can you stand the presure a one off drive brings?
As to what is usable in real terms, the car has to have a very toquey engine, peak power is meaningless on the road if you have no low down torque. Having so much power brings major disadvantages to handling setup too, it requires heavier transmition and suspension packages and stiffer spring/damper rates to control pitch, so the car setup will have to be tailored towards one displine more than an other.
I think this format of 3 diferent types of event in one overall winner is a great idea, for me, without the handling aspects it would be a meaningless competition for road cars.

sky tv
are broadcasting a shortened version taken directly from our footage as we are filming the entire event. a 40 min version will be then shown on sky sports, sometime in october i believe, after the dvd is finalised.
the film crews are shooting in-car, external (top speed, handling and drag), and will be interviewing people all day in pitlane, finding out the specs etc.
also to confirm the 1000bhp+ abbey motorsport skyline is running in the event, but as mentioned, the overall winner this year is on points from qualifying and the shootouts . (points wil be given to the top 10 cars in each discipline.) additional points may be won right at the end in the handling and drag shootouts, but the overall winner will have had to do very well in 3 formats, as Ronny did last year.
he's also back to defend his crown and wont give up easily!
