Due to space limitations we are thinking of switching our Impreza GX to a Forester GLS. I'd like your views and comments please if anyone else has done this. Thanks.

If i had to part with my impreza for a forester i think i would rather put the wife on ebay and put my kids up for adoption and make do with the space, but seeing that i dont have either its easy for me

Thumbs up

I went the other way mate, from a Forester to a MY02 wagon. I'd say go for it, but if you do buy the turbo, it will bring a bigger smile to your face. Oh, and expect it to roll a little more

I went from a MY01 WRX to a JDM Forester S/tb. Haven't regretted it yet. It's very 'stealth' ( well visibly, anyway ).

UK models a bit weedy, roll/understeer can be sorted with a few judicious aftermarket bits.

i'd go for it

Pros:

More Space, less speeding tickets, less maintenace (less mods too), cheaper to run

Cons:

Less power, less speed, doesn't stick out as much, higher to the ground so it isn't as stable

Both are in my driveway, and both are nice cars. The forrester doesn't have the problems that most SUV's have to deal w/ (no stability, too huge, hard to drive, noisy, bad drivers... not too many w/ huge egos about their driving buy subarus). Its very similar to the Impreza, but its no where near the performance of an Impreza.

I drive the forrester by the way. I don't get as many firebirds and mustangs try to race me (they don't learn).

Red face

Wow brave move, but they do seem big, chunky family friendly vehicles. I saw an STI forester last week, it just looked awesome, and pulled out of the car park rather enthusiastically . If its what rocks your boat i'd go for it. Likewise as andypugh2000 says put the family up for sale and buy an impreza turbo saloon!
The choice is yours

Can't seem to remember if there is any drop in performance as the GLS has the same engine.
If you want to have a higher seat, more body roll then try it. The boot surface area is about he same as the Impreza wagon but it is much more boxy in volume.
Um, can't say much more. Its a boxy Impreza really. Just more attractive and doesn't get unwanted attention.
I take it you want ot avoid turbos?

wrrjones -Nice to see another JDM Forester coming out of the woods over here. Any pictures?

We have a 01 GX and a 03 forester X all weather. Both are great cars but the GX is soon to be swapped with an sti8 - my idea of an ideal combination!
