Question

Just out of sheer curiousity that is my question??????

Have Subaru been Turbo's ever since time began????

If it was possible to do a supercharged version what would it compare like to a turbo Engine..... boost, top end power etc???

The things you think about when you have your feet up on the table in work during the day lol..........

Come on people this should create some discussion!!!!!!!!

Cheers
Simon

I had a G60 VW Corrado that was super charged. It was only an 1800 and front wheel drive but was quite rapid. i Know VW also did a G40 Polo so they must like superchargers. Also the spams use them alot on their cars but as for advantages/disadvantages unknown?

I was considering the idea of swapping the Turbo for a 'charger. There is a nice space for one where the A/C compressor would normally go.

But Superchargers sap more power than turbos, so overall output may be lower in comparison. But obviously, the lack of lag would be fantastic!

top site. So what that is saying is there is not much difference except in price? So why do WRC run turbo's? Are they more reliable?

My friend Jamie (Subie Gal) drove a Supercharged Subaru in the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb last year.

It was a Japanese market only Subaru Pleo - 75hp, 660cc engine AWD Supercharged and Intercooled.

I saw a Supercharged Legacy being driven at a Bounemouth rally at the beginning of the year.

It had been built for auto testing/sprinting which both need low down punch rather than top end.

The charger was mounted in place of the A/C unit and a bulge had to be made in the bonnet to clear the pulley

It used the same amount of boost as a turbo engine so nothing on the engine management side had been changed.

Very interesting, but still a bit strange

I've had a Sprintex supercharged 3.1 litre Sierra converted by Power Engineering circa 280-300 bhp.

Still have a brand new supercharger sitting around somewhere, would make a good conversion coupled with the turbo.
