Question

My new STi should be arriving next week :-)

My question is should I make another visit today and order the PPP upgrade is it a worthwhile upgrade on the standard STi spec? ANybody got first hand experience of the two setups??

What if any difference will 18" wheels make to the car, other than look lurvely?

thanks in advance

Andy

?

I already have an STi8 8 that has centre decat and BB, but am having the PPP fitted as we speak.

I'm sure that it will improve the cars response knowing what it did to my UK300

Brewstaa & Steve
Get it Ordered. You will not believe the differnce it makes. The car goes from mild mannered, with a bit of delay in pick up through the gears, to instant phenominal acceleration with a soundtrack like the Rally Car. Steve will confirm this once he has his !!!!!

Some dealers have demos with the PPP fitted, so you should be able to organise a test drive before you buy.

Cheers

It's well worth it (providing that you need to keep the warranty)

I picked up my STi8 in March, and while it was fast, it felt very similar to my old MY00 PPP.

I've just had a 10,000 miles service and had the PPP fitted at the same time and the car is transformed. Having run the car as standard for a few months, rather than having PPP fitted on delivery, has highlighted the improvement.

The car now pulls hard for longer, is a lot sharper on pick up and of course sounds the part. My first impression was, yes its made a difference, but the more I drive it the more I realise the greater ability of the car.

If I was in your postion however, I would advise running the car in, and have the PPP fitted at the1500 mile service. It will be hell trying to keep below 4000rpm with the PPP, and I think you will appreciate the improvement more having run the car as standard for a while.

Go on, you know it makes sense - yes it is worth it

and how was it??

don't say crap as I've just ordered mine, and the 18" wheels. I will get the chance to run it on the standard engine then get the upgrade fitted at the 1,000 mile service.

I hate you all! I can't fit PPP to my STi8 in Germany due to the lack of TüV (MoT) approval!

Although I can definately recommend fitting the front strutt brace and changing the tyres (I changed to Bridgestone S-03's)! Nasty tramlining is completely gone and also gives a big improvement on the understeer!

Brewsta

Its feckin awesome

It pulls like a train all through the gears and is so smooth. Seems to have got better as the day has gone on so ecu must be learning the fuel and everything.

I'm out all next weekend in it so I will be running it with Pro Boost as well.

I have the 18" Prodrive wheels on mine PF7's i think they are called (Speedline Flo formed), nice n light with Toyo's fitted.

Trouble is now there is more power it tramlines more under braking and the turn in is a bit soft.

I thin Eibachs and full geometry next. £375 at TSL

The the Nurburgring here we come !

excellent news !!

I've ordered the OZ Prodrive wheels and whatever standard rubber comes with 'em.

Why is it 7 days seems like an eternity all of a sudden, and even then I won't have the PPP upgrade. Oh well one step at a time!

So with the STi I need to keep under 4K rpm for 1,000 miles then?

thanks for the advice on the wheels, but to be honest I'm no Schummacher so I don't think it will make much difference to me LOL!!

Well not unless its carrying them from one place to another anyway!

Don't go for the Standard Rubber

Go for the S03's Toyo's or F1's

Just out of interest how much did your insurance go up to (both amount and %increase) when you added your PPPs??

I am thinking about it at the moment for my STi8, but want to get an idea of how mcuh the insurers are going to screw me for!!

Cheers

You need to check with your insurance company...I'm with Privilege and it's due for renewal end of August. They have charged me an extra £65 JUST FOR THE REMAINING MONTH !!!

I'm so looking forward to getting my renewal quote... will be speaking to Liverpool Victoria soon

Insurance oh no!

We can't find anybody cheaper than TESCO's I won't have the PPP until the 1,000 mile service so we are insuring it standard to start with: -

Me 33 6 points, SP50
Deb 39 0 points

£1,200 a year fully comp. is that good or bad?

I had a PPP fitted to my STi8 last Thursday along with 18" FF7's (with P Zero Nero's) and had the utter joy of taking it over to the Continent on Friday for a few days.

The improvements are substantial and go much deeper than just the 'put your foot down and feel the grunt' difference. Driveabiity is much improved, the sound is back to what my old Scoobysport piped Turbo used to be like and the handling is significantly better. I even got almost 290 miles out of the first tank!
