Hi All

Magnex has a request to make of a Subaru Impreza 2000, WRX, or STi owner registered between '94 -'00.

We would like to borrow your car in order to perfect the fitment of our front pipe, the reson being for this is simple, in most cases we fit fine, but sometimes our customers encounter issues and francly we dont like this so we want to put it right.

Ideally we would like someone local to our facilities in Derbyshire, and would require the car for 2 or 3 days (a pool car will be made available), and a new fitted Mangex front pipe will be given to the downer, by way of a thank you.

Could all interested parties please contact me on adriangill@extechuk.co.uk

Thanks for your assistance

Could we have a Magnex pipe instead? This "Mangex" one sounds a bit dodgy

Can the webmaster varify this post?

I had a Magnex downpipe on my car for a few days but had to take it off because the fitment was way out.

This is a legitimate offer from Magnex, I am the customer service manager and we want to get our pipe to fit right every time.

we have an excellent product that gives significant power gains, and we dont like dissapointing customers.

If only we put as much effort in proof reading and the spelling of our wonderful name..Oops

If you fitted a bracket on the bottom of the downpipe to hook over the existing bracket as on the original downpipe that would probably solve 99.9% of your problems.

I'll volunteer I already have the magnex downpipe and centre section waiting to go on so all I would want in exchange is for you to fit my downpipe and centre section. I have a 2000 turbo MY00

Magnex, with the design of your twin dump downpipe (which I used to have), I am dubious as to how much of the wastegate gases go down the twin dump pipe when there is no splitter installed in the turbo. When there is, some have experienced boost creep which backs up this suggestion. When the circlip came off my wastegate actuator once the wastegate penny ended up jammed in the mouth of the dump pipe at only 30 degree opening, again suggesting things are a bit tight. If you made something with a more generous opening for the wastegate that would be great.

The bracket at the gearbox is also a nightmare for access because it is/was hidden in a very tight to get to area. Without this bolted it knocks of course. Mine was "modified" with an angle grinder because it was on and off so many times trying different turbos

I have had a Magnex downpipe just fitted and unfortuantely bought it a while back from Power Engineering. The exhaust has been fitted but the Lambda sensor just wont seal to the exhaust. So the idiots at the garage managed to weld the lambda sensor to the fixing nut. It doesnt stop the oxygen leaking but stops the annoying rattle. cost me about £150.00 fitting. So I phoned Power Engineering and they with Magnex have just replaced my Downpipe with apparently a redesigned version. Now reading this article I am starting to worry incase I have more problems with the pipe I have just been supplied. Because I am now gonna have to buy a new lambda sensor and have the whole lot refitted. Which is gonna cost another £150.00 and then the £115.00 for the lambda sensor. I think its great that Magnex and Power Engineering have replaced the Downpipe so quickly but also really dissapointed that the two companies have sold the down pipes originally without checking the fitments and therefore costing Impreza owners more money for fitting. Anyone else suffering with same problems I would like to hear from you. Also would like to have a response from magnex as to the situation you seem to have created for Subaru impreza owners.

I live in Barnsley. Have a MY 96, already have a Magnex centre decat and Magnex back box fitted. Hence only the Downpipe required for full Magnex, I'd love to help.

Thumbs up

Hi

A big thank you from every one who answered the request, i have selected a model from the replies and our R&D chaps have already started checking possible modifications.

Cheers also to every one who took the time to outline other issues they have had in the past, from experience i know most of them have been resolved, and rest assured by the end of the week Magnex will have a down pipe that we are proud of and one that will put a big smile on the face of new owners.

Thanks again
Magnex
