unnoficial best lap time was the white wrx of andy as he got uner 38s, next was skyline at 38.3s
fastest 1/4m was 11.4s i think, top speed tbc was over 190mph.
all results will be posted later in week , or a link to them
thanks to all who came, wot a scorcher.
delay today was due to a bike rider who came off at 100+mph and ended up in hospital, think its a broken wrist *(and bike)

Thanks to chris and his team for organising a great day. It was great to meet up with everyone again.
Priority for me was to try diferent suspension setups and tyre presures to get the car more or less dialed in for the day proper.
The biggest problem was overcoming understeer, the rear was gripping yet the front wasnt wanting to be precise. After 7 runs i had it handling quite nicely, i changed rear rollbar rate, f/r tyre presures and f/r damper rates until it handled fairly neutrally.
My fastest run was 37.99S which was the fastest overall at the time and the first lap in the 37's, so i was pretty chuffed with that.
AndyF then went out and beat me with a 37.91S, bollox.
And that was how it stayed, fastest of the day was Andy closely followed by myself, So 2 Impreza's lie at the top of the timing sheets.
I also had a quick drive in Andys car, it's got some grunt! I was losing out on power in a big way. Thanks for the run Andy, very impresive! We also chatted a fair bit about how to improve the cars handling setup, there is a lot more time in Andy's car with the balance improved, he is running on a UK gearbox which is losing a lot of time i believe.
The handling course was a big improvement over last year, it was much faster and more challenging to drive at the limit, i think this type of layout will really allow the powerful cars to stretch their legs and put on a show. It's going to mean me getting up the top of the times is going to be much harder, but i think for the competition and what its about its a perfect setup.
I need more power.

Andy's car is damn rapid. As P20SPD noted, there's not many imprezas that will sit spinning all four wheels on grippy tarmac before biting down and flying...
Nice meeting you today

What a scorcher Good to meet you guys and put some faces to names !
I don't know what the TMIC cars must have been like but my air temperature after the intercooler was up to 58 degC sitting on the start line
The handling course was exactly that, with lots of power perhaps being a disadvantage ? As suggested by John F, who was a fair bit quicker in his own car than he was in my car ! Although we did agree that my engine in his chassis would be a 'killer'
I must thank John for his tips on set up which managed to reduce some of the terminal understeer on the tight chicanes.
Without his help I'd have come 2nd
No 1/4 mile terminal speeds were recorded but working it back from the ECU RPM it was 11.66 @ 123mph.
My official terminal speed recorded at 1.25 miles was 170.7 mph FWIW the speedo was reading just past 180mph, just on the H of MPH at the bottom of the dial

Andy,
you car was VERY impressive off the line. We timed you and John on the 'away' stretch to the mid-point cone on the main left-hander - as you seemed SO fast on the opening straight.
At this point you were THREE seconds ahead of John....12s against 15s. So your power must have helped a bit
Out of interest - what gear ratios were you using to get your excellent 1/4 time and top speed - there has been a lot of discussion here about how specific ratios can affect this relative to 'quoted' engine power
Shame Alan G didn't run.

Alans car would have gone really well on that course, with the spec being somewhere between my car and John F's car. On the way down on Saturday it certainly wasn't lacking 'go'
I was running std UK gearing on 3.9 diffs which is fine for top end but I'd prefer STI gearing for the 1/4 mile and slalom course as the UK gears are just a bit far apart. (are you selling your Sti5 gears when you upgrade your box ?)
Andy
ps You sure about the 12 seconds ? I can do 1/4 mile in that time and the first corner wasn't THAT far away !!
Oh, and you left before the launches got 'interesting' with the 6500rpm clutch dump netting me 0.3 seconds on the 1/4 mile !

Andy, your car could handle that power with much better balance if you change what we were talking about, you dont have too much power for that track, it just needs putting down properly "in the twisties" . Your engine in my chassis would be amazing.
Thanks for letting me get the feel of a fast accelerating car again!

Andy,
it was a long way - but you had already hit the brakes twice!!!
Will let you know about the Sti V box - I intend to sell it complete if I can.
Rannoch
PS Do you think 16in wheels are a benefit on the 1/4 - or is the advantage the ability to utilise the road legal slicks you use?

Road legal slicks ? 'E' marked Yokohama radials if you please sir ! (although the fronts were actually slicks on the way home )
I run 16's because that's all I've got ! The rolling radius is almost identical to the 17's fitted to later cars so I don't see much difference in 1/4 times whatever size is used.
(re - the launches, it's silly using that RPM on a UK box with a paddle clutch.....but fun whilst it lasts )

good show today from the scoobs, well done. totb2 course wont be a million miles different, maybe a couple of changes, i managed 3 runs today myself, despite being busy and found it to be very good fun. only 42s tho so a long way off you two! the gt4 was also understeering a bit, but i do have **** budget tyres on and didnt go anywhere near hard enough!
i think the scoobs will suprise a lot of people this year
thanks for the feedback on the cct etc

it looks less damaging to me andy, rather than tramping and putting big shock loads though it, it just spins the wheels and has a smooth take up of grip.
But dont quote me on that when it goes pop.

Just curious, I was there for a while and saw a white scoob blasting it up the qtr mile. From the side, just after launch, you could see his whole exhaust system bouncing up and down like a yo-yo on acid. Do they all do that? Did it make it home on the car??
