had my sti now for 2 months and on friday night loud knocking appeared to be comming from my engine sueru response has brought me home and they rekon it is the crankshaft bearing and it will take 2 weeks to fix whats that all about is it just me being unlucky or what fortunly under warrenty so coverd there but i am to expext more problems with it plz help i am gutted as it was brand new when i got it.a discrumpled sti owner

It must be you mate, no one else has had anything like that go on their scooby before. They are very reliable usually.

But let me guess, you have just had the oil changed at the first service and been doing well over a ton and then you slowed down?

Floyd - if you are goin over a ton, what else could he do instead of slow down ? (at some point)

Tough luck mate, all to common I'm afraid.

One or two or a few hundred or so have experienced the same problem, probably no 3 bearing. £2000-3000 should get it sorted.
There are so many suggestions as to why this happens it is not true, take your pick! All I would say is that whatever the reason a lot more engines suffer this failure than should IMHO.
Happened to me too. Have a look through Drive train for posts on this subject, at least there are some well recommended engine re-builders about now so it should be sorted properly in a reasonable time.
