Subaru imports stopped by government
#1
i found this article on www.wrx.co.uk
SVA News - Make sure you order your 1997 - 2000 STI right now. From July 1 they can not be imported due to the new ESVA emission rules.
IS THIS TRUE OR IS IT BULL****

Lee from the said site could probably expand a lot on this, as he is an imorter and dealer.
The government have closed the loophole that allowed cars to be
tested for "disabled" use.
This means the cars will have to have an ESVA, according to the model report. (which i believe there is a lack of).
I am not sure how a model report is obtained, and if they have to
do such things as "crash test" a car, effectively writing it off.
There are a few more tests the cars would have to pass.
I think i've got most of it right, if anyone can add, please do.
This could mean, the "classic" post '97 cars prices may hold up;
some may even increase ........for a while.

thread on supra forum so basically my understanding is while it will hopefully get delayed which it allegedly will cause it takes so long to get put in place, but anything 97 onwards you wont be able to register if it arrives after October 1st
Fingers x'd it will get delayed then but if you wana be on the safe side get it on the way sharpish!
Not sure how/if this will be any different for subarus given the need for "Government test centre approved model report" but certainly not good for any late skyline or supra wanabies
