Theft Prevention, your tips/hints

BMW, went into the Glass trade on leaving school spent 10 years cutting glass making units up and such like, bullet proof glass is on average 10-15 mm thick, u scooby wouldnt move with the weight.
Toughend glass what ever thickness can be smashed with a toffee hammer if hit in the right place, ie corners are the most weekest, plus when its smashes it does so into 1000's of tiny pecies thus leaving a big hole where the window should be.

Its that time again me thinks, with tips for preventing your car being on the thieves hit list, any comments that are useful to others are welcome
My couple of tips are:-
1. Dont drive out at night if you dont have to, you can be followed home easier and you wont get a look at the car behind you.
2. Visable security measures, the harder it looks to steal, the less likely they are to try (but it doesnt mean that they wont have a go still )

Cat 1 (makes it v.difficult to steal), Disklock (as previous, and also visible deterrant), BlackJax (combats key theft and hijacking).
You can get all that for less than 500 quid - worth it, and IMO better than having a tracker.

i agree disklock good.alarm tracker good ideas.
If you on the move. Not sure what to use, i keep wheel wrench inside the car.and watch out for iffy looking peeps.
Park in garage if i can, out of sight out of mind?
Top tip.
Move to an area of low crime.

Leave the car in gear, so if they cut the handbrake cable to push it down the road or onto the back of a loader, it won't move.
Always check your windows are fully closed, double check all doors are locked when leaving it anywhere.
Don't leave keys sitting at the front door of the house!!!

I agree with all the above plus program your alarm to lock all the doors when the ignition is switched on. Adds to the feeling of security knowing that they can't open your door and pull you out.

2) If you have to park on the road at night, try to park nr a street lamp, if not see #4
3) Get the best alarm you can afford

I have to say, having just bought my first scoob I'm a little concerned with the reputation for scooby's to go walk abouts.
As a 4th Dan Taekwon-Do instructor and a former amateur boxer I'm not too worried about car-jacking.
It would almost be worth them trying to nick it if you could catch them in the act!
But you can't keep your eyes on the car all the time, *******s!!!

Full delock on all doors and boot + smash proof glass (not security film) different locking nut for each wheel stud on all four wheels. Keep it in the garage if you don't have one move. secure your property with gates dogs and cctv. Don't ever take the car anywhere and leave it where you can't see it.

Fit a loud wireless siren inside the car too.
Flashing LED's can be fitted to the top of each door for high visability, and wired to work when the alarm is active.
If you buy the right LED's it can look quite impressive, and not tacky.

Suggestion
Hang a false set of car keys that can be easily reached from the letterbox with stick. When they press the button to turn alarm off instead it triggers a secret trap door into a pit of hungry pigs.
Bacon sarnies would be all the tasteier.
Alternatively it could turn on some floodlights and make some noise.

Um, that should read...
Flashing LED's can be fitted to the top of the inside door panel at the window of each door for high visability, and wired to work when the alarm is active.

I like the false set of keys idea, but how about going one step further and taking the batteries out of the keyfob also. That would confuse the hell out of the thick ba5tards.

there is bullet proof glass, bomb proof glass, glass you can fire bullets out of but not into and toughend glass that you can batter with a hammer all day with out it smashing. I'm sure some where there is glass that will stop thieves form geting into the car.
