My 99 UK wagon has it's 45k service tomorrow at the local Subaru main dealer. Is there anything particular worth asking them to check over or look out for, other than whats ordinarily covered by the service schedule?

Is it possible to check the condition of the clutch without them getting as far as just replacing it anyway? Thats really the only query point I have from driving it.

Cheers,
Tim.

surely it should already of had 45k by now if done every 6 months? Anyway that'll be pretty major in itself as it's a cambelt un unless yer on the new & improved set up which as i recall changed to 60k on later classics although most still prefer to do it at 45k un
To check clutch i take it you have had sum slipping perchance? Just stick in 3rd or 4th when going say 20-30mph then put accelerator pedal to da metal if revs rise when speed doesnt then ouch slippy clutch on it's last legs needs replacing As a more basic pre slip guide when does it bite as u release clutch pedal if it's right by the top then it may also have limited life left
Good luck anyways

This is what I'm experiencing, and why I wondered if it's getting towards the end of it's life. Sounds like it might be.

well mine did as well it wasnt until it started jumping up a lot of revs without doing anything i new it was deceased If it helps at all then it does feel much better with an AP organic racing clutch, STi release bearings & a lightened flywheel but it aint cheap

What did that conversion set you back, parts & labour? It's probably what I'll do when I know for sure it needs replacing.

Cheers,
Tim.

That was £800 at TSL give or take, i have heard of some places doing it cheaper such as midland impreza but well i'd rather use pros (not that sort lol)
