Do any of you know any good info on this ? --> I am currently 'doing the sums' of bang per buck.

As far as I can make out, the PPP consists of remapped ECU, Samcos, crappy Prodrive backbox and high-flow downpipe. Feel free to contradict if I'm wrong here. Costs £1600 including fitting and will give a standard WRX (MY02 in my case) about 260bhp.

I can source these items (for a Tek2) from various Scooby specialists (eg. Scoobysport) for under 1 grand (excluding high-flow downpipe). This would also give me about 260bhp?

If I wanted Tek3, I would probably end up paying about the same amount (£1600), for ECU remap, samcos and down- and uppipes, but would probably end up with about 280bhp?

Warranty issues aside, what sort of thing has influenced you guys' decisions on this one?

thanks

err......Warranty aside.............that's the main issue as I see it!

PPP keep your warranty

TEK 3 get better performance but lose your warranty.

Your choice! I would say though that the TEK route will probably detract from the value of your car. The PPP will add to it.

You'll probably get comparable results between PPP & ECUtek-2. I imagine a full exhaust and Tek-2 remap would be cheaper than a PPP, but not less than £1k. An exhaust with high-flow cat would be more expensive, but no messing around with swapping exhausts at MOT time.

The TEK3 may not 'lose' your warranty.........the full SS exhaust would though

after seeing the performance results on 2 WRX 03's at a r/r last week that had both been PPP'd the figures were well down on wot Prodrive state.

Main thing must be the warranty, get it prodrived now, if u still have it after 3 years, get it tek s'd and fully de cat etc

I'd go for the cheaper option if I were you. That way you'd have enough left over to buy my plate 'MY 02 WRX'.

Seriously though, What do you mean by Tek2 and 3? Do you mean a Ecutek remap with and without full decat? I don't think Ecutek ever designated a Tek3 as such.
I have a SS Ecutek remap with full decat and can't recommend it enough. Although, if it wasn't fully decated before I bought it I doubt I would have spent the money. After all you won't get it back come resale. I paid £14500 for my car. Fully decatted, TSL 6 pots, eibachs and many other mods inc plate. Hardly a good investment. If you're going to end up spending thousands(which you will once the modding bug starts!) best to buy one already done or put the cash towards an STi7 or 8.

But if economics are not an issue go for the Tek3(full decat remap)

"Tek-2" remaps are off the shelf enhanced maps that work well on mildly modified cars. "Tek-3" maps are custom to your car alone.
