I'm sure this has been discussed, but what does everyone get out of their New Age Scoobs?

I got 330 miles out of the last 2 tanks on my '03 WRX - and doing the maths - top up to top up - that's 28.5 mpg (on Optimax)!!
This is non motorway and commuting to and from work, with the aircon on, not sparing the horses - but not going mad. So why does everyone suggest that Scoobs are not good on fuel?

Cool

I think the new shape are good for a few more mpg than the others .

About 260 in an STi7, until the light comes on.

The furthest I've dared to go then is 12 miles.

I must be doing something wrong, I do a lot of short journeys, my journey to and from the station every day is less than 5 miles and car is not warm so never boot it, may go for a short blat on the way back but never for that long. I'm getting no more than 180 to a full tank of optimax, my 99 model was quite a bit better, guess it's something to do with lots of short, albeit very gentle trips and aircon, I know people have reported better mpg, I've found it a very unpleasant surprise.

Dave,

Yeah pretty much, my99 very rarely got less than 200 to a tank, I never used to bother much with sul or optimax in that, so i'm wondering if religiously filling with optimax has anything to do with it, gonna try to live without the aircon for a tank full see how much difference that makes.

Dave,

Yeah thanks, I think I should do that, like you say they are supposed to be better. Gonna start recording a bit of evidence first, he'll probably take the handbrake off for me!
