I was just watching the Irsish Rally Championships on Sky there and it never really dawned on me before, but there are LOTS of 22B's on the Rally circuit.

I wondered if they were just Type R's with some sort of scarce replica wide arch kit, or if they are genuine 22B's with mega rich owners who can afford to b@stardise them for rallying?

Your thoughts?

More than likely they're WRC cars - the car that the 22B was designed to look like. They crop up for sale occasionally, usually commanding 6 figure price tags.

They're thirsty and uncomfortable too...

Ahhh, I see.

That would explain it, cos I wouldn't like to imagine how much you would have to spend on a road-going 22B to make it competitive on the Rally circuit.

So where were these cars sourced from originally then? Are they Prodrive cars?

Isnt it the rules that , atleast for WRC there is a 2 litre maximum displacement requirement thus ruling out the 2.2 litre 22b
