Ok I wasn't going to post this for another year but decided I might have to do it soon but this all depends on your advice.
If I'm to get another car I really don't want to pay the same as what I did for the UK300, I’m looking at the 21,000 mark. I'm also not to bothered about interior; I’m basically after looks, handling and reliability.

I own an UK300ppp, which I do love, and it really is a great car. But as with most of you I want more power. The reason I got into Subarus in the first place was because of the P1, when I saw that car I just thought "I have got to own that car one day". At the time the P1 was still out my price range and the UK300 was just in my price range, it was also the new model and I loved the fact that it looked like the rally version so I got that. I've still got another year on Finance but I've decided I'm going to settle up now and get a loan with better APR (something I should have done from the beginning). So I'll then own my car, so the thing is do I keep the car or do I…

1. Buy a P1, I went for a test drive in one the other day and did love it.
The pros are,
it looks the nuts; I really don't think there's another Impreza in standard form that looks better apart from the 22b.
It's fast.
It may not drop much more in price now.
It really is one of the classic classics.
You can get excellent deals with the upgraded brakes and exhaust.

The cons are,
Cheap interior,
handling isn't as good as the latest model,
only get 1 year warranty and have to pay MOT now.

2. Get an STI7 with ppp, I’m pretty sure you can pick these up now for around 21-22 grand.
Pros's are, its still quite new so has warranty.
It has a nice interior
It's fast (not sure how it compares to P1, got to be close though)
It handles well

Cons are,
It doesn't look as nice as the P1,
Probably won't hold value as well as P1,
Won't get as much respect as the P1.

3. Get a import STI8
Pros are,
it’s fast,
It handles really well
Nice interior
Has twin scroll and diff thingy

As for cons, I don't know much about imports so if these aren't cons can someone pleases say.

It's an import so won't hold value as much as UK version?
Warranty maybe an issue?
Have to use higher fuel grade all the time?
Not sure if it's left or right hand drive?
Are all parts the same or do you have to get stuff imported a lot of the time?

And finally, do I keep the UK300 and wait another year and see what's out then?

Sorry for the long post but hopefully some of you won't have falling asleep and I'll get a few replies.

Cheers

Peter

Pete,

i would go for option A. agree with your pros but u forgot .

cant comment on the others as havent driven one. if u r worried about the warranty on a P1 extend it. as for the interior, jap motors = cheap plastic (just my opinion).

oh, by the way, i have a P1

Yeah see that's what I got when I drove the P1 just lots of and that was just from the passers by. I really do love the P1 for what it is, just totally in your face raw power. I'm not to concerned about things like interior but obviously handling is important. Has anyone owned a P1 and then an STI, if so what do they like about the STI over the P1 and do they miss anything about the P1.

Pete,

You can have my Sti7 with PPP and a full 2 years warranty left on it. I also have bug eyes and £1500 pro drive spoiler added. Contact me if your interested. The dealer said for £600 they can sell a full unlimited warranty on it. I also have some decat pipes which i had removed when the PPP was fitted, so even got some spares. Its a UK Sti 7 02 with PPP, blue with gold 17". Mail me for some pics if you like.
Thanks

Cheers smellyvag, I'm still in the "what shall I do" stage at the moment. If you could send me those pics that would be great, also what sort of milage has the car done?
