but you should check for service history (2 per year) cambelt has been changed at 3 year or 45k whichever is first, its been run on super unleaded fuel and octane booster (just ask what fuel shes been run on), errrrrm check the turbo to see if it smokes (white smoke) when warm (though the gears and in gear) also check for blue smoke which is the car burning oil.
Gearboxes can get a hammering along with clutches, check the brakes, they are not the best to start with and even though the original ones are not expensive to replace, a better setup will cost you.

Ideally you want to find one that has had a re-map to run on UK fuel.

Just so happens I have a MY99 V5 Type R which I am soon going to be selling 319Bhp, LinkECU, KnockLink, LambdaLink, Scoobysport full exhaust, 17" Prodrive wheels, etc etc etc.
