Some nerd has just run into the front of my 1998 WRX STi 4 door saloon. The repair shop has said that they will replace the bumper and frame with UK parts. Can anyone tell me whether this is OK or whether Jap spec parts should be used.
Also, I fancied replacing the standard bumper with something more racy. The repair shop have said they wouldn't replace with some fibreglass item (and I agree with them), but they said they would consider some genuine Subaru bumper. Does Subaru make a meaner-looking bumper for my car?

which STI is it. If its an STI4, stick and STI5/6 bumper on.

 

It's an STi4. So the UK ones are OK then?

 

Yes, the UK ones are fine. And I agree, put the facelifted MY99-00 front bumper on.

 

the facelift bumper is nice and will be the same item as the import. subaru wont mould a JDM bumper and a UKDM bumper. it doesn't make sense financially. stick a facelift grill on while your at it.

 

Any idea where I can look at one of these facelift bumpers? My own car has a lip fitted to the bottom of the bumper. Presumably these come with the UK bumper too?

 

The lip spoiler was sold by Prodrive as an optional extra for the UK car, and as you have spotted it was fitted as standard to the STi. See the pictures on http://www.iwoc.co.uk/prodrive3.html.
