90,000 miles service

I've just paid 255 whole english pounds for a service at 88,000 miles, they very kindly performed a full "every 30,000 mile" service saying that it would be better since my car was closer to 90,000.
All the usual filters were replaced, oil etc and they also replaced the front pads.
Is this a normal kinda price ?
The clutch is slipping and they say it will take about £250-300 to replace, is this a normal price as well ??

I had the 90'000 mile service a few months ago which is the biggest service of the cars life and it cost me £700.
I am surprised you weren't told about this as you are probably going to have to shell out again very shortly.

My 90k Cost me a tad over £500 at an independent. It's a massive service, Cambelt, All fluids (incl. Diff and Transmission), Filters, Plugs, etc. etc.
For the price you paid they obviously didn't do the cambelt. If they didn't do the Cambelt and Diff and Tranny fluids then it wasn't a full 90k service.

& clutch you'll b lucky! I paid circa £800 for a AP organic un when mine was on it's last legs which included lightened flywheel also & while the OE clutch u may get cheaper & thsu reduce cost less than mine was the bluk of expense if the labour so IMO it's worth upgrading while it's being dun.
Si (+bad news but hey i can now whell spin c/o decent clutch )

I don't think they changed the belts, just filters & fluids & plugs & front pads - the parts only cost about £100 + about £100 for labour + VAT.
They said it was a 90,000er and it was a subaru dealer but not a "big" dealership.

what sort of person pays £92 for a standard set of front pads? I have OEM 4 pots, and the standard pads only cost me £35. (approx, it was 6 months ago now.) It would be less if the car had 2 pots.
The fluids get quite pricey, as there are loads of them to change...
I recently got a Subaru cambelt for £50 (Crossroad garage got organised for me ) - it was the easiest cambelt change I've done.
It doesn't cost as much as some people think to maintain a Scoob - unless you have to have major engine/gearbox work.

Hmm
90k is all fluids + cam belt
belt 100 (main dealer)
oil change 27.50 inc filter + oil
gbox oil £45-50??
rear diff oil £45-50??
rad water £0.00
antifreeze £15.00 ??
fuel filter £20.00 ??
Brake fluid £20-40 ??
total cost for parts
£282.00
and im being generous with the prices
that leaves £418 for labour bout 6 hrs = £700
hmm the pigs are fed and ready for take off!!!
Sorry all no offence to you but..
you know from the threads that the dealers are ott with pricing
if you want to run a scooby and have it main dealer serviced
you gotta pay there over inflated prices...
lets face it on a service what do the main dealers do that you
cant???
oil hmmm i can undo a sump plug
rad hmmm i can ... i wont go on
if i cant do the job, i find a garage that can and can do it at the best price.. in the time i want, not at a main dealers shedule ie oh cant, fit it in until next week and no ceurtesy?? car
if you see the paper today scooby labour rates are up 22% to £65
yea right
that means a cam belt change should be £ 100 for the belt
and 2hrs labour at £65 + vat = 270
so why does my dealer want £350 ex vat
prehaps im cynical but
if i run a ten year old car theres no way im going to pay a main dealer unless i have to..
its all to do with brand perception
if you have a successfull brand car it must cost lots of money to make it so good, and serviving must be exeptional and to achieve that it must cost a fortune
and the bottom line is if you pay the prices they charge they arnt going to complain..
i could go on but i think youve got the idea
sorry all i just think were being taken for a ride (sic)
if you

luckily, on my doorstep is one of the best impreza garages in the country, teg sport mainly import jap imprezas to turn into rally cars, so the lads there really know what they are doin. the prices, compared to main dealers is frightening!! Plus they already have most of the parts there anyway. if you can fit it in next time youre over get a service booked in.

met BEWARE thou riding clutch till totally feked may [read WILL] damage yer flywheel which can be skimmed (& lightened) to remove abuse to a degree but failing that yer guna cost yerself a few hundred extra quid. I couldn't really afford 2 get mine replaced but £800 later & i have an AP organic un lightened flywheel (revs much better) & STI release bearing (supposedly prevents clutch judder which i never had anyway) & it is great i can now spin the wheels rather than the clutch & is great although i aint guna rape it too much as dont fancy needing a new box

Did I forget to mention that I only have a 1.6 Impreza, maybe it doesn't need all of the things replaced that bigger Impreza's do ?
But the front pads only cost £35, I meant to detail the service costs in a post last night but I went to see the matrix reloaded last night, all I will say is that is a very good film as we have had on-going discussions about ALL day in work.
Windyboy.
